I agree, I probably wouldnt reinstall everything just to get FSE to work. The quickest way to prove that this is a system problem and not SageTV is to install the latest free Zoomplayer (which can easily be uninstalled) and put it in FSE mode, then play a video.
I wasn't certain as I haven't followed FSE very much, figured an old WTF reference would get some explaination -- always does from me

Naylia, what rev Cat are you running?

What ever happened to the Video Playlist? I used to have a remote control button mapped to "add to playlist" and a "Video Playlist" menu item. Is that still there? I can't find the "add to playlist" command for my remote. I have added the Video Playlist...but cannot add normal SageRecordings to the list. All I can add is from the Video Library.

If you were adding recordings to the video playlist previously, you were using some other STV in v2. The v3 STV still has the video playlist for library videos -- just select an imported video & there's an option to add it to the playlist. (And, yes, I'm well aware of a long standing feature request to be able to add SageTV recordings to such a playlist... I want it too!)

And, as usual, FSE still won't function properly, at least for me. Change to FSE and all is ok until I change to the windowed mode, still ok. Try and toggle back to full screen (FSE) and Sage locks up.

For all the problems with FSE and so little benefit, maybe just dropping it would be easiest. Of course, it could just be my ancient ATI 9700 Pro video card.

Does anyone remember what import or .stv would allow a Sage Recording to be added to the Playlist?

Cat 5.9 was problematic for me...5.8 is rock solid. Somebody try 5.10 and report in Media Player Classic has an FSE mode, so you can try it (and keep it) for free.

Still on 3.0.11 and have a problem with MP3/WMA playback....even with "Random Playback" *NOT* selected...playback is...random! Is this occuring in .13? Anyone else notice it in .11? (To clarify: If I was in "Sort By Artist" and picked Van Halen, which had 50 songs listed, I'd play song #1 and expect song #2 to play next...what played next would be another artist like Warren Zevon).

It isn't playing the next song in the music by artists list -- it is playing the next song on the album; at the end of the album, it would continue to the next album.

Unhappy

I've been reading these forums for quite some time now and was really looking forward to Sage 3.0. I was under the impression that 3.0 would introduce online scheduling and an official MVP client. I'm very disappointed to hear that these won't be apart of 3.0. Don't get me wrong I like SageTV alot, but Sage really needs to catch up to the rest of the competition. The online scheduling in BeyondTV is really nice, especially the way it is setup (you use their website for scheduling and do not connect to your machine directly). Until SageTV supports these features in the core product I'm afraid I'll have to look elsewhere...perhaps GBPVR since anyone is allowed to develop plug-ins. When these features are supported maybe I will re-evaluate SageTV.

GB-PVR won't do you any good since those features are not commercially supported either. Seems some broken logic there. If you are never home to schedule shows when do you watch them?

mlbdude...yea i know GBPVR is not a commercial product, but the developer of the software has gone out of his way to support the MVP. GBPVR supports the MVP right out of the box. As for online scheduling, there has been many times when I wanted to schedule a recording from work. Sure I know I can use the unofficial plugin, but that's not the point. The online scheduling (in some form or another) should be a core feature of SageTV period.

Well, I think one thing that SHOULD be added as a requirement before V3 release, is a CD player. WAF is really high, in that she can insert a DVD into the machine, and go through the menus and watch the DVD no problem, but when she goes to the store and buys a new CD, and I haven't had a chance to rip it into the collection, it leaves her in the water...

Is it really that difficult of a problem?

ehh, how about photos? to not have a feature to rotate picture realy does suck.... is it so difficult to add that feature in?

I finally got button in front to view Live TV from main menu in original STV... Maybe I also will get in Sage Image rotate option as well. hihihi

Don't mention it Dagar. The picture thing doesn't bother me as much, because I don't store a large amount of my pictures on my HTPC. I use my study PC to transfer the pictures to the computer anyway, and normally, at that point, take care of the rotation. If it's an album I want on the HTPC, then I transfer it there.

But who wants to look at pictures taken for eBay purposes, or for screenshots of SageTV? That's why I don't keep all my picture albums on the HTPC. I guess what would be better for me to do, is have some folder structure, such as the following:

D:\pictures
D:\pictures\htpc

And then only let SageTV import from the htpc folder. That way, if you wanted all your digital pictures in one place, you could do it, but only allow Sage to display the pictures in the htpc folder...hmm...not a bad idea...wish I had thought of that myself...oh, wait, I did.

Got the same problem here. It seems that the focus problem may have been fixed too well in this RC.

I am doing this without any problems. How are you guys switching to Sage? Are you using Mostlyfodder's MeedioSage plugin?

Have you checked to see if you've turned off the option "Video Always On Top" on the SageTV title bar when in window mode.

I don't have any focus issues and I switch back and forth from window mode to full screen all the time.

It could be that I use hauppauge IR receiver instead of my USB-UIRT (SageTV doesnt have to be in focus to control it).

I'm using mostlyfodder's Girder GML with a Niveus remote. Also tried just launching SageTV.exe from Meedio using the keyboard (no remote, no Girder), and same problem.

It seems to work fine if SageTV is opened (not from sleep) then closed (Alt+F4) to return to Meedio. Problem is that it takes 10-20 seconds to load. For anyone else who wants to try this, make sure the SageTV service is enabled and running.

I'll have to try MeedioSage....thanks for the suggestion.
