Just purchased the Maxtor OneTouch III Turbo 1TB unit. It is not Raid-5, only 0 or 1. But I have to say it is a pretty good box for $739.00. Very quiet, fast 43MB/s sustained transfer rate, individual power management features and has been running real cool so far(2 days).
Also not a NAS unit but all in all I am happy with this purchase.

Do you need to set the disks up with 64k cluster sizes?
Did you set up the disks with the SageTV recommended 64k cluster sizes, or did you just plug them in and go? The reason I ask is because I am going to set up a Readynas NV to use with sage, and I wanted to know if I had to worry about this.
Thanks, Kenny |

The ReadyNAS uses Linux and EXT3, not NTFS. I'm not sure if you can change the default cluster size, but you shouldn't need to.

I posted the block size question on Infrants' forum and was told that it was 4k. They said that if there was enough interest, they would look into supporting 64k block sizes. I know nothing about linux and EXT3, does it not suffer from fragmentation like NTFS? My fear is that I am going to record a seasons worth of several shows in HD and when I go to watch them, playback is going to stutter like crazy.
