Exclamation No recording Schedule/No recording of Favorites.

I uninstalled 4.1.6 and installed 4.1.7

I do not see anything in my recording schedule. I can manually select entries from my program guide (which is populated) and have items record, but nothing seems to be populating automatically based on my favorites. My favorites are still visable, and I can check future recording dates which do show up, but Nothing in the SChedule Recording View. Also unless I manually select it for recording nothing records.

Anyone else seeing this?

were your video recording directories added correctly after installing 4.17. Hope you have a backup of 4.16 before you uninstalled. What SageTV recommends to do when trying out new betas is to backup your current SageTV directory, and then just install the new beta on top of the old one. So if something goes wrong, you can always delete the new installation and use the backup to copy your previous version back to where it was.

I watched some Olympic team USA hockey from work this morning, this is the coolest feature since SageClient. I'm now catching up on some recordings that I haven't had time to watch before... this thing is perfect for long lunches. Someone ask about the purpose of Placeshifting... it's to kill work productivity of course.

Couple of observations:

I don't see a setting to make the app "always on top" that would come in handy.

The aspect radio seems a little squished, people look just a touch short.

Just in case... when you check Additional Airings from the Favorite Details screen, do any of the airings have red circles indicating that show will be recorded? If so, go back to the Recording Schedule, use the Options command & make sure Display Filter is set to All.

Also, double check that your capture sources & channel lineups are still configured properly.

This release has locked my server up hard twice in the last 24 hours. I had high hopes for it as well ...

I use an MVP as my main client and experienced occasional freezes and random shutting down of the mvp with 4.1.6. I made a bug report and was told these problems should be fixed in 4.1.7.

Well they may have been ... however, it is difficult to say as a new issue has appeared that locks up my server (on both occasions it was when I was changing channels). When in this state I can't even vnc into the box and need to do a forceful reboot of the machine.

I'm going back to 4.1.6 for now - at least the MVP is nearer to power off and back up again.

Yesterday I did a clean install of 4.1.7, building up new property files, as you suggested me in another thread . So far my system and mvp runs fairly stable. Just tried to do some channel jumping. No lock ups or freezes. Everything went smooth.

What kind of internet connection are you using to do the place shifting? Cable doesn't seem to be fast enough for me.

Cable should be plenty fast enough -- your pipes could be conjested in your area or your provider really puts a cap on your service where you need to pay more $$$ for more bandwidth but I would think that the lowest cap going up would be at ~ 1MB/s, which should be plenty. Try http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ and see what's reported...

Gotta love FiOS...

Communications 4.8 megabits per second
Storage 583 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 1.8 seconds
Subjective rating Awesome

I was lucky to get 2 megabits/sec with Comcast cable...

Cable

Communications 5.7 megabits per second
Storage 694.3 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 1.5 seconds
Subjective rating Awesome

It all has to do with your local conjestion levels, I live in a place where everyone is old and likes to stay in the ice age with their dial up so I'm lucky, I thought FiOS would be better?

I don't have many favs scheduled over the next few days, since there isn't much new on for my shows... make sure there really are favs in the next 3 days that ought to be scheduled. (Does the Intelligent Recording option add things to the schedule if you turn it on?)

If there really ought to be shows scheduled, you could exit SageTV (and the service), set the debug_logging=TRUE property (exactly like that) in sage.properties, and restart. Include the log with a bug report to see what SageTV has to say about it.

Yeah, depends on if they are limiting your bandwidth on cable. FiOS is for sure limited, as it never goes above 4.8, but I've also never seen it below 4.8...it's always there. Comcast between the hours of 6 and 10PM was like dial-up for me, if I could even download a web page...I gave them 4 months to fix it (called several times), and Verizon finally got done putting fiber in the ground...so...

You can get faster FiOS (15Mbits/s), but it costs like $50/month. Heck, you can get 30Mbits/s, but that's $200/month. I'm more than happy paying $35 for 5Mbits/s. TV's on the way on Friday, for yet another $35. This will be good for the cable companies (or bad, depending on how you look at it).

Sorry, didn't mean to steal the thread.

So, why is FusionHDTV, Transport Stream Tuner selection gone from 4.1.4-4.1.7? 4.1.3 has it...
Is it integrated with the WDM Tuner option now?

For the Placeshifter server, it's the upload speed you should be concerned about (and obviously for the client it's the download rate). My Cable has 384k upload, and my work DSL has 1m download for the client.

I had pretty good success today, but I'm still going to tweak the settings a little more to get the best I could.

There was a lot of stutters when I left the settings to "Dynamic streaming" setting, so I changed it to manual. At 300kbps, res of CIF 352 x 240/288, framerate 30, keyframe interval 10, use b frame, and 64kbps audio (I think these are the manual defaults), I got a pretty good video. A few stutters here and there that could be result of network congestions, but it's still pretty watchable.

placeshifting on another machine

Hi, I know you can install two full license sagetv's and use a second like a client and a recorder( record off a pvrcard on another networkd computer as if it was on your server)

Any way to do the same with placeshifter? Have another machine on my network do the labor? My reason is reducing cpu usage on my server.

Pictures: On the main screen, when you click on a picture folder, inside, the main folder appears in place of the first photo. Clicking on that brings up a blank screen. If you arrow down a few times, and then go back up...the folder dissappears and the first photo is back and viewable. minor, but annoying. I did a fresh 4.1.7 install this time, so most of my first post problems went away...this one remains.

Thanks.

I found the problem, after the upgrade to 4.1.7 about 2/3 the way down my sage.properties file I had a bunch of garbage in the file. I reverted back to the 4.1.6 sage.properties file I had and everything is working.

Has anyone had success getting mp3's to play using the PlaceShifting client? Mine and someone elses will start but no volume comes out. This could be what is expected out of this early release of PlaceShifting but I just wanted to see if anyone was having any luck.

I also had to manually set the PlaceShifting setting, changing it from Dyanamic. It works really well at 270 but at 300 it is usually acceptible as well.

I've been asking the same question, since the MVP transcoding first came out, with absolutely NO reply from Sage on the matter. I'd more than likely go ahead and buy a couple placeshift licenses if this was possible, I have a fairly beefy PC on my desk that I use occasionally for gaming, that could run several MVP's transcoding divx & stuff without any problems if I could only use it as a remote extender server..
