Red face NetFlix v Blockbuster Online

Has anyone ported this over to work with Blockbuster online yet? I too think it is a great addition, if only I used NetFlix, but Blockbuster Online gives 1 free instore rental a week so it was a better deal for our family.

This may sound like a dumb question, but can we currently add movies to our queue are can we view only? Also, what plans are there for IMDB integration and Movie Trailer playback?

Howdy, been a while. I am in school and in a particularly difficult semester, so I haven't been working on this recently.

There are plans to integrate this with NielM's IMDB plugin. I haven't actually done it yet, but it should not be incredibly difficult. All the pieces are there, I just need to send the search criteria from his plugin to this one.

Yes, you can add movies, move them up / down in your queue and remove them.

Have you looked at the issue of multiple queues yet? That's the showstopper that is preventing me from using this plugin. Thanks!

I've tried this plug in and when I try to check my que or anything like that it seems to lock up. The Sage icon spins forever and I can get barely any response from my system. After a while I'm forced to reboot because I can't get Sage to respond.

Any ideas or suggestions?

ya, me too, I stopped using it a while back, its seems to want to download every bit of cover art that netflix has, but it will only display the first three covers for your list. sometimes if you wait a really long time it will work again. It definitely needs updating, but I think the Author has homework or something.

Updated Jar

I have not had time to update the stv. NetFlix has removed the star rating system (last night).

This jar is much improved. I use the RSS feed to get titles and descriptions. The more detailed information (Ratings, Actors, etc) starts downloading in the background, but the UI is responsive immediately.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of "ratings" stuff in the UI that is no longer usable. The rest is in good shape though, and it's MUCH faster.

I have it working with version 6. Just make sure to download the extra jar file in message #47 of this post in addition to the other files in the download section.

There are still kinks to be worked out, but I am able to manage my queue from Sage v6. (Thanks for your hard work, DwarF!)

Yah. Once I updated my build with the new jar file, performance was - as promised - much improved.

The interface is utilitarian and there are still issues with the thumbnails in the "browse" lists, but they work fine when you enter a detail screen.

Give it a shot.

Is there any news on adding support for the Watch Now feature on netflix? It is the one thing missing in SageTV (aside from cablecard support). I personally would would prefer a Movielink, CinimaNow, Netflix, and Unbox plugin all in one. called MOD (Movies on Demand) but adding anyone of these would be great. I really don't care about the DRM because these would be rented movies not purchased ones, I would never buy a digital movie with DRM, but renting doesn't matter it's not mine anyways.

Thanks,
Armyb77

That would pretty much have to be a core addition, it's not really practical to do in an STV, if it's possible at all.

I don't see that it would need to be a core upgrade. Media Portal was able to add the Netflix Watchnow.

Thanks

Well define "add". To add the ability to browse Watch Now and launch an external player would not be too hard. However to actually have it integrated, where Sage would be the player and control playback, that would require a core change to support the DRM used.

If you could maintain full remote control capabilities then I think this would be an acceptable solution. I worry that opening a separate application to control video playback could result in loss of ability to fast forward, rewind, pause, and stopping videos and thus you would have to manually stop via keyboard to regain control of SageTV. Also this could create problems when trying continue to view the show while going through menus on SageTV. I don't know how hard it is to fully integrate a video player that is not part of SageTV.

Thanks,
Armyb77

I don't think the netflix "app" is remote controlable.
