Perhaps you are confusing this with some other problem you've run into?

I don't see any issue with setting a favorite to be first run only regardless of whether any episodes of that show are in the EPG data at all. You can even make up a show title that doesn't exist and add it as a keyword favorite & then set the first run/rerun setting to anything you want.

But, you can't set a fav to be "First Runs" if there is already another favorite for the same show with the same limitations. That is the issue that people have run into on the forum in the past - they thought they couldn't limit a fav to "First Runs", but there was already a fav set that way.

Similarly, you are limited to setting a favorite as a single channel unless you find it on the correct chanel. What typically happens is in my recordings, you select a show and see multiple episodes listed. Select one and see, bummer, this is from syndication and you would rather not have it recorded. You should be able to set up a favorite from that episode screen that is only for one channel (different from the one that episode was recorded on). It'd be really nice if it would be a filtered list of only those channels that had that show available.

You use SageMC, right? It sounds to me like you are saying that when you are viewing an airing, the fav will only allow you to limit it to the channel that the airing is from. In the default STV, you can always select any available channel for a favorite, so I can select any airing, add that show as a fav, then limit it to any channel I want.

Unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying, this issue is STV specific.

That certainly sounds like a good option to have at first... but then the next complaint someone would post would be that if a show isn't currently in the EPG on some channel, you can't limit the fav to that channel so the fav will only catch it on that channel when it begins airing again.

But, it might be useful to list the channels currently airing the show first & then list all other channels after those.

This issue came up several times in the past, and all I can say is that I'll do my best to address this in one of the next versions of SageMC ...

Ok, ill look more closely through my favorites list when I run across this again. But that brings up another feature request/improvement. It'd be nice to have the option of exporting or importing our favorites list to/from a file.

If I had all my favorites on a spread sheet I could sort them easily and see if I had any duplicates. As it is now I have to use the mouse or remote to scroll through them with just a few on the screen at a time. It shouldn't take me 5 minutes to scroll through my list of favorites to find something, but it does. Once you have over a hundred in there it becomes considerably more difficult to work with on the 10 foot interface. I still havn't bothered to go back into each favorite individually to set start and finish padding, its too much of a pain to do 147 times.

You could use Nielm's webserver and then you'd be able to just do a search in your browser.

Hmm, on which page would that be ? I don't see any search functionality on the Favorites Manager page (v2.8) ...

I am organizing my Imported Videos (DVD) into Genre folders as there are in excess of 500 movies and it is too difficult for people to scroll through them all. I would love to use Genre Icons in the respective folders. Can this be added some time?

I only use the Imported Video functions to allow me to have a DVD library on disk, so the features I want refer to that section only:
1) Parental Control of movie folders (Adult movies)
2) Folder icons
3) Schedule auto-update of imported media.

One thing I would like and there may be a different way of doing this than what I am thinking, would be the ability to create and save custom aspect ratio settings beyond the Fill, 4x3, Source and 16x9,

Currently I use fill for DVD, 4x3 for some SDTV, Source for HD and some SDTV and 16x9 for letter boxed SDTV.

I would like to be able to make a "Source-Football" for example because I like to stretch to about 110% each way so the little tickers and scorebox line up at the top and bottom of the screen. It really isn't a problem to adjust it manually, but would be cool to just select it.

MVP Control

Maybe this is already possible, but I can't find it anywhere other than from the SageWebserver.

I would love to be able to control the MVPs from within SageTV. Right now, I run the webserver (actually, that would be a cool feature for the service to serve web content from 8080 or something) to control what is played on the MVP. I'd love to be able to do this from the Sage Main or Placeshifter software directly.

Maybe when you click a show, the default option hilighted is to play 'here' (local to whatever machine/client you are on) and have another option to play on a connected placeshifter client.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature.

On a single tuner system if you start watching a program that is set to record as a favorite and put stop. It cancels the recording. But, if you hit paude or just back out to the menu it just keeps recording until you come back.

Stop should just stop playback not cancel a scheduled recording.

I'm not sure this is possiable but I thing Save has the info to do it. An option to record shows that are in reruns but only record any given episode once.

This is already how Sage works. There are some scenarios where you could get a duplicate, but it should not happen for the most part.

8) Additional Aspect Ratio "Zoom" or "Custom" for those odd situations where a show is broadcast at 16:9 but only has content in the 4:3 portion of the screen and that content also happens to be in letter box format. I.e. Black Bars and Black Columns.

...
I will second that. I have a HD tv and I hate watching SD shows broadcast in letterbox then my TV has the black bars on the sides. my 50" TV was just reduced to a ~30".
An option to have a preset zoom would be an amazing benefit for me.
a twist on this would be a button that toggles between 2-3 differnt zoom options each having independant horiz and vert control.

A request for the core itself, the incessant SPINNING LOGO, I am fine with having an indicator so I know the system is bogged down but why in the world does it need to be in the center of the screen?? just moving it to the corner of the screen would be a huge step up in the WAF.

Not to belittle your request, but I've seen quite a few people say they need more aspect ratios in Sage and I have two left over I never use. Not saying some people don't need them, but for the majority of us there should be plenty of choices.

I have a 16*9 HDTV and have mine setup like this:

Source - I use it for almost everything. It takes care of all the shows with proper ratios such as 16x9, 4x3, 2:35:1...

16x9 - I used it on letterboxed shows. It automatically stretches it to the proper width and I have manually calculated and added the necessary vertical zoom so that letterboxed 4*3 is "zoomed" to fit my entire screen. You could of course do the same thing with Fill or 4x3 instead.

Fill - not using
4x3 - not using

I agree having built in switching support would be great, but the automatic aspect ratio plugin works perfectly for me. Everything is handled by Source except for 4x3 letterboxed and I assign the ratio I've set up for that type of content to certain shows using the ratio switcher. The only time I have to manually switch is if I'm watching something a letterboxed show that I haven't yet added to the switcher.

Blade,
Thanks I hadn't put much thought to it, I made some bad assumptions.
I was thinking that there were three true aspect ratios. I thought that you set the 4x3 and the 16x9 and the source autoswitched between the two of them.

now that I went through and set them independantly, life is good.
I now set them
4x3 125% both directions, for letter boxed 4x3
16x9 100%, it fit good to begin with
source 100% for most standard shows
Fill not currently used.
and I now set a button on my remote to toggle between them.

Since there was such a simple fix for that I suppose someone will tell me there is some setting in the properties file to reposition the spinning logo.

No problem. I'd highly suggest trying the aspect ratio switcher.

I don't think it can be moved, but the spinning logo can be turned off with this property:

ui/display_wait_indicator=false

I'd rather fix the need for the spinning logo... V6 seems very sluggish
