and who actually uses their tv's audio anyway? In the HTPC world, I believe it would be blasphemy not to use your tricked out, tripple shot carmel machiato, 6.1 DD surround sound receiver.
DVI is fine with me. Ill take the first extender that supports a sage client! I.

If I ever have a dedicated home theater room I'll get into all the sound goodness, but for now I don't have a good place to put all the equipment needed. |

my HTPC hides behind my tv. The only thing people see is the USBUIRT dongle. I had the thought long ago to make my HTPC presentable, but then I had the question, "why? Especially when people dont need to see anything?"
YMMV

Mine was hidden behind a large chair next to the TV in a mid-tower case, but that is no longer an option and I had a silverstone case lying around so I'm using that for the time being.

Wow--that is a great price....as far as us mere mortals getting the source code--it looks like it ain't gonna happen. But--i'm still optomistic sage has what they need to get things going on this and its just a matter of time. Here's hoping for a nice x-mas gift from the sage team. Juc

Just read this whole thread with great interest.
Questions: --Any word on what happened with D-Link and GPL-Violations.org? --Any update on an HD Extender yet? I'm ready to pull the plug for the Sage-branded MediaMVP, but don't want to do that if it's going to be replaced in a couple of months by something better --The Zensonic Z500 is now down to $299. Any word on whether people have had more luck getting complete source code from Zensonic than from D-Link? Jason |

nothing really new. I never heard back from gpl-violations.org people. When i asked sage whether i should pursue more formal action against Dlink i was basically told they 'had what they needed' and i didn't need to keep pushing. So that is where i stepped out. I had hoped that based on that statement something was going to happen soon. But that was months ago, holidays have past and I don't know anymore. Maybe we'll see something at CES. Lets hope.

"SageTV Media Center UltraHD maximizes the HD viewing experience by making it possible to record and stream TV in High Definition throughout the home." I am looking under the CES 2007 pages for any Sage announcements but haven't spotted anything yet. I can't imagine they would announce anything big at CES without announcing it here on the forums to their loyal masses =) |

Yep, that was last years CES announcement and the "device" is just an Origen HTPC computer case.

I'm not sure if this is everything we'll need to get a port working (as I've only spent ~10 min looking at the source), but it seems D-Link finally complied.
The following directories in the kernel source are a fun read: include/asm-armnommu/arch-em86xx/ arch/armnommu/mach-em86xx/ Esp. the mambo/tango files in 'include' which list the entire register sets for the scaler, video/audio outputs, mpeg decoders, etc. I imagine it'll still take awhile to figure out how to properly utilize all the hardware without documentation, but atleast we'd know where to poke now. |

If anyone wants to start working on a project, I'd be happy to help do some coding. I'll be looking at the source in the meantime and post anything good here, I would rather work with others so as to minimize duplicate efforts.
