I have no idea on how to create a script that automaticly generates a xmltv file each day. Remember, you cannot do this once since you need the date as part of the program start information.

Also if I use EPG I'm not quite sure I can be certain of how the filename is created and I need this since I'm using external applications to copy the recordings to the playback server.

BTW, I'm not monitoring security cameras, but I'm taping 5 TV channels 24/7. I do not want to use "normal" EPG since that can miss programs not enlisted.
