Stuttering
I am at school on a wired 10mbps backbone. I am connecting to my media server at home which has a residential cable internet service rated at 2mbps upstream.
When using the dynamic system, the image looks great most of the time, but the program has a very bad sense of when to reduce the quality of the image in order to keep things smooth. Sometimes it will stutter so bad that I have to hit pause and then play again, and for some reason (I guess it gets to refill the buffer?), that fixes it.
When I manually set the streaming settings to use a low resolution image (we're talking 250 kbps video), there are no stuttering problems, but obviously the image looks very bad, and the stream isn't living up to its potential.
Does anyone know how to tweak the Dynamic Streaming System so that it buffers for longer up front and also decreases image quality more readily so that it doesn't stutter? Can these improvements be made in the next version?
