You did it! Great work! As far as I can tell, this is a totally compete and polished product! I can now tune into Howard 101 on sirius radio with just a few clicks of the remote via navigate!

Thanks!!

PS: Chris, check your hotmail email account

Remember a squeezebox is controlled by a remote. And on this remote (take a look at the remote part of softsqueeze) there's no such thing as a enter key. To start playback you have to press the play button. This is why I decided to dedicate the enter key to entering and exiting the navigate mode.

Thank you Michael,

Next time I will invite you for some beta testing before releasing a new version, like you proposed in your message.

Thats slick! I've been debating the switch from XM ro Sirius, and this might push me over! Question I would have, what all is required for Sirius, I assume they have an option to listen over the net, or are the streams free? (nah, cant be free!)

You can have both XM and Sirius radio through slim player by installing the proper plugins for slim server available from here:

Sirius has a new super cheap ($2 I think) internet only subscription with access to high bandwidth channels. I'm not sure if XM has anything like that.

Just to clarify..

You have two options for sirius radio. It's definitely not free, nor is it $2. That would be nice though

Options:

1) Have an existing sirius radio account via satellite tuner. You will be able to listen to internet radio (at low quality) with no additional cost using your existing account. You can pay an additional $2 a month to get high quality audio Internet radio. The low quality audio is fine for talk radio such as Howard Stern.

2) Get a brand new internet only subsciption for $12.95 a month for high quality audio.

Opps, that sounds much more right

Has anyone gotten the XM SlimServer plug-in to work? I tried playing around with it about a month ago, but couldn't get it to work properly (all of this was outside of the SageTV SlimServer Plugin)...

I tried out this SlimServer stuff and got hooked!. Tried the SoftSqeeze also which was pretty impressive. (Maybe this should be SageSqueeze?)

Thought I would post a little teaser of what is coming in the near future to SageMC users in the near future even though it is still a little rough. Still have a number of details to straiten out and add, and I'm trying to see if I can get some original artwork from MeInMaui to replace the web picture.

Two things...

1) Morgan, that looks soooo nice! After seeing your preview, I am pretty sure I'm going to switch to SageMC when I upgrade to the final version of SageTV 6.

2) In the meantime, Chris, there are many times when.. Slimplayer doesnt get a chance to switch back my setting Display Video on Menus=Always; such as, when SageTV shuts down in a way slimplayer doesnt expect. Is there a clever way to force SageTV to start with Display Video on Menus=Always no matter what? I find myself having to go and change this option from Never to Always almost on a daily basis.

Not only that, but you should make sure to install and use Morgan's iTV theme!

Smile For those of you who want to access SlimPlayer remotely..

I was trying to figure out a way to access my SlimPlayer from work via Internet. Since this plugin doesnt work with placeshifter nor sagetv's media extender.... you can do this simple trick:

Go here:

http://localhost:9000/html/softsqueeze/applet.html
(replace localhost with your IP)

...and you get this:

I took it a step further and used dynip.org and now I can get to it with a friendly URL using port/URL redirection

http://radio.mydomain.com

**EDIT**
WARNING: I just added a user name and password to Slimserver so the above player is a little bit more secure. I quickly found out that when you enable username/password to Slimserver, Slimplayer will not start anymore.

I don't think there's a way to force this setting at startup.
Currently, the only way (I know of) that this can happen is when you press the x icon to close the window and sage goes to sleep. Is this your scenario. If different please tell me, so I can try to reproduce it.

Chris, you are right. when I dont have my TV remote control near me, I will use my wireless keyboard's CLOSE button (which send an ALT-F4) to the active window. ALT-F4 appears to be the same thing as pressing the X button on the sageTV window. I really wish there was some clever way for slimplayer to know when this happens. I am guessing if there was any way at all, you would have done this already.

slimplayer patch adds support for slimserver's basic authentication

Just added username/password to slimplayer, which will be used to logon to the slimserver if you have enabled user/password authentication in slimserver.

By enabling user/password on slimserver fetching the local artwork from slimserver will not work (even with this patch in place). This is because the STV code image widgets can render urls, but don't use authentication. This is fine for the artist info and artist photo (they come from the internet), but the album art comes from slimserver and will not work. I'm thinking about a solution for this.

installation
Just unzip the attached patch file into the sagetv/sagetv folder.
Set the following sagetv.properties to whatever value you configured in slimserver (while sagetv is not running).
slimplayer/username=
slimplayer/password=

- Chris
Attached Files
File Type: zip slimplayer-1.1-patch-1.zip (45.6 KB, 219 views)

Chris, unfortunately, this patch did not work for me. I follow the instructions perfectly. I first put these settings and respective values in sagetv.properties. Slimplayer would not start. So, I moved these settings to SageClient.properties (where the other slimplayer settings are) and, also, Slimplayer wont start. I an 100% certain I did this correctly. I double checked patched files replaced the older ones.

slimplayer/username=
slimplayer/password=

Thanks for trying to make this work!
