I'm playing-back H.264 recordings stutter free on 98% of the channels
Yeah. I feel your financial pain. Had to upgrade as well to get this to work.

It never seems to end does it? I'm hoping I done with the Sage/HTPC upgrades for 6 months to a year.

although I would like a 2nd R5000 unit. I'm going to really fight the urge to spend

For you guys using the R5000 with Dish, what kind of signal is Dish sending for HD, specifically, are they sending a mix of 720p, 1080i depending on the channel? How about the h.264 ( or whatever for mpeg 4) compressed stuff, is it still conistent as far as resolution? Thanks.

I think it is a mix of 1280x720 for 720p stuff and 1440x1080 for 1080i stuff

I think the only channel that sends 1920x1080i for 1080i stuff is the HD Demo channel I am basing this upon what is reported by Media Player when playing the files. Not by Sage. Sage reports a lot of h.264 stuff as 1080p

I registered it with Cyberlink any everything, so it seems legit to me. I guess

Dude been selling it by the boat loads for 3 weeks now, if it was boot I'm sure Cyberlink would have had ebay shut them down by now. But if people have doubts go and spend $100 bucks for the same thing

Any workaround for the duplicated channels on DISH?

So far things are working better, but I still can't tune/watch all the channels. Channels like Discovery and DiscoveryHD have the same channel number. Has anybody gotten a workaround for this duplicate channel foolishness that they care to share?

Thanks in advance,
DQ

Yes. The fix is non-intuitive. It's on a thread here someplace. It involves going to the setup of your Dish unit and through setup disabling Dish HD Channels option. It does not disable the HD channels as intuition would lead you to believe, but disables the grouping of SD & HD.
