So use smart de-interfacing.

I've noticed that I had to up the video sharpness in the hardware configuration. I believe the default is 63, and I had changed it to 160. Has anyone have to increase the sharpness.

As stanger said, it does make a difference. I use analog cable and most of what I watch is treated as film. If you don't believe me, install fraps and set the Nvidia decoder to smart and watch how the fps changes between 24 to 60 when viewing different content. Older shows are usually video, but most of the newer ones are treated as film.

The only drawback to smart mode is if you experience the bug you mentioned before where a frame is shown out of order. It happens to me on some content, but not all shows. If I use Nvidia Post Processing (software mode) it never happens. So I run using smart so I get proper deinterlacing and for shows that tend to be really nasty with the bug I switch to software mode.

I set the de-interface mode as inverse telecine using the NVidia Control Panel, and the picture quality is fantastic, but as the control panel says, it is a resource hog, and I get some jerkiness, and some of the video goes from light to dark, etc.

I guess, I can't use inverse telecine.

Ah, If I use exclusive full screen that seems to help. What I have noticed though, is that sometimes when I go to use live tv. I just get a black screen. Sometimes for a very long time, sometimes a very short time, and sometimes it just stays black.

I can't select inverse telecine in the Nvidia control panel either. Cpu usage jumps and I have some problems. My understanding is if you're using IVTC you'll get 24 fps for film, which I already get when using the smart setting in the nvidia tray icon. Maybe stanger or someone else can explain the difference between what smart mode does and what IVTC in the control panel is doing.

On a slightly different subject (just slight, but deals very much with picture quality), I found my PQ to look a LOT better by adjusting the saturation by right clicking on the ATI icon on the taskbar. The problem is Sage or something keeps making it revert back to 100. Does anyone know how I can keep it at the setting of my choice? The PQ is overly saturated with colors bleeding together so I keep having to bring the saturation down to 40% and after watching the show I notice it just reverts back to 100% again.

Thanks,
Mike
