Well, if you can get to it, I would really appreciate it as I have a little over 3500 videos with .my files that do not have associated .properties files with them.

If you can't I guess I can view them one at a time and create a properties file via this import.

Thanx John

New test version available on the first post

(2.2.1)
- Added bulk import from .my files. Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Metadata Options -> Metadata Save to DB -> Import to DB from .my Files

Import without Overwrite will not import any field that already contains data in the DB.
Import with Overwrite will import all fields even if the field already contains data in the DB.

Hey John,

I imported this into Sage and it would not load. I reverted to the default stv and reimported IMDB, Dynamic Menus and this. It loaded fine after that.
But then I deleted all my Import directories, renamed them and reimported them after making sure "Auto Save to DB from .my Files" was set to yes and then tried a search and it didn't work.

It doesn't do the import automatically, there's no way to hook into the core to do that. You need to run "Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Metadata Options -> Metadata Save to DB -> Import to DB from .my Files" and it do a import on all imported videos.

The "Auto Save to DB from .my Files" just does files on a individual basis when you go into the video detail of them.

Hi John,

I did that. I took out all imported video directories in Sage, set the Auto Save to DB from .my files to yes, then reimported all Imported Video directories into Sage. I even moved the physical location of the video files so Sage did not think it was the same videos.

I'm having a problem with the Save Trivia, Quotes, Etc...

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix saved a properties file bigger than 32kb and that caused my DB to corrupt and for SageTV to become COMPLETELY unstable. I filed a bug report and received the following response:
Quote:
The problem was due to a 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'
metadata file which was more than 32K in size (that's a limit on the length of the description). If you remove that one then you should be OK. We've updated SageTV so in the future it'll cut them down itself so it won't cause corruption.
I was going to redo all my movie imports with Save Trivia, Quotes, Etc... set to "NO" but it's still saving the extra information.

I've had a check and it doesn't save any of the Quotes, Trivia etc when Save Trivia, Quotes, Etc... is set to NO. However, that information may still be in the .my file and it could be importing it if you have Auto Save to DB from .my Files enabled.

When I started getting corrupt wiz.bin files and before I sent in the bug request I renamed all the properties files and moved them. Then I changed the name of my import folder from Movie to Movies and started with a completely new wiz.bin...
So there is nothing in the DB until I Saved from IMDB.

P.S.
I am running your latest .my file stvi along with the most recent IMDB and Dynamic Menus on Latest SageTV (6.3.10) and XP Pro

So you don't have a .my file and you don't have Auto Save to DB from .my Files enabled?

No I do not have Auto Save to DB from .my files enabled and I have no .my or .properties files either.

Nevermind, I found the problem...
I had to disable creation of .my files

Since the topic turned to your excellent plugin in that other thread, I thought it'd be better to post here.

I found a small bug in the my bulk importer which I wonder if there is a work around for? The bulk process is great, it creates the properties file and loads it without having to do all that removing import directories or other nonesense. I just ran it on a few thousand .my files generated by the TV.com importer, and it went without a hitch. The problem is that its using the filename for the "title=" field instead of the episode name. When I do a manual import via your plugin the process is awesome, the episode name replaces the display name. However, manually calling the video info for a few thousand files is, clearly, not feasable. Is there anyway to get the my to properties conversion process to use the episode name like for title the manual import does? Using the filename will be a problem for an IMDB scraper as I plan on having that pull the lookup name from the parent directory (to conform to how my library is setup).

Thanks!

Hmmm, all three import processes use the same code, but your right. I'll have a look into it.

Works when doing an import with Overwrite and doesn't without Overwrite because the Episode field already exists on imported videos. I'll make a change.

New test version (2.2.2) on the first post which should fix that

(2.2.2)
- Fix location and naming of .my and .properties files for DVDs
- Fix bulk import of my files not honoring overwrite setting
- Changed bulk import to always use .my file title field
- Tidied up settings properties (check your settings as some will be back at default values)

Updated the download with a new version

(2.2.2)
- Fix location and naming of .my and .properties files for DVDs
- Fix bulk import of my files not honoring overwrite setting
- Changed bulk import to always use .my file title field
- Fixed returning to originating folder when saving from IMDB and IMDB search was from Video Detailed Info
- Added Option when saving from IMDB to prompt to change Video Name to IMDB name
- Tidied up settings properties (check your settings as some will be back at default values)

It has a couple of changes from the Test version of 2.2.2 to fix some saving from IMDB issues that I wasn't able to test previously.

MPAA Ratings Import?

Hi, I have been using Sage for awhile, but am just now getting into customization. I have been trying to figure out a way to limit access to specific folders, but that seems to be impossble at this time. The next best thing, is to use the parental ratings system, and give each file a specific tag, which is where your program comes in. I have loaded the lastest version, along with the IMDB search. They seem to work "ok," but the the IMDB search does NOT seem to pull the MPAA ratings, which is what I mainly wanted it for. Looking at your version history, it looks like version 2.1.0 had this feature. Also, version 2.2.0 says that it shows Users Ratings in the "star" format, versus the numeric X/10 format.

Like I said, I am pretty sure I am using the latest version, 2.2.2, and mine does not have MPAA in IMDB, and it still has the numeric vs the star format for user ratings. Am I missing something simple, did the IMDB change such that this info is no longer able to be pulled? Or is my install somehow incorrect?

I know this is probably somewhat vague, and no I have not read every single post in this thread. Thanks for all of your work on this. Hopefully Sage will have better built in ways to lock folders, as I belive BTV just came out with these features in their latest iteraton...

Thanks again.
