New version available for download
(2.2.3) - Reworked logic for the automatic generation thread to ensure the thread is killed when switching STVs and if a client disconnects ungracefully. Also removed the requirement to restart after importing or enabling/disabling. File generation is no longer global and can be enabled/disabled on a per client basis. - Reduced the amount of logging done by default with an option to enable full debug logging. - Added Option when saving from IMDB to either prompt to change Video Name to IMDB name or always save as the IMDB name or original Video name. - Removed saving of Extended Rating info (ie: for Violence) from IMDB because the IMDB plugin v6.10 no longer returns a value - Fixed saving of Star rating from IMDB because the IMDB plugin v6.10 returns it in a different format John |

I'm having an issue where the image isn't getting saved from IMDB when the data is saved. The metadata is getting saved though.
I enabled debugging, but wasn't sure where (sage client log?) that gets written. What steps should I take to figure out what's not working right? Thanks. |

I've had a check and the jpg saving looks OK to me, but I did discover that I wan't logging anything for the IMDB image save process. I've just slipstreamed an update into the download, so you'll probably want to grab that for debugging.
Also check that Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Metadata Options -> IMDB Save Options -> Download Images from IMDB is enabled Enable SageTV debug logging in the appropriate properties file. (Sage.properties or SageClient.properties) debug_logging=TRUE Enable debug logging in Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Metadata Options Logs will be in sagetv_0.txt or sagetvclient_0.txt. All the log entries should contain "RW Metadata" John |

the file is getting saved in the wrong place.
for e.g. the dvd is in \\server\dvd\the movie\video_ts and the jpg is getting saved \\server\dvd |

You do need to "Refresh Imported Media" for SageTV to pick up the changed jpg and if it already had a jpg showing, it will remain in the SageTV cache until it expires or the SageTV UI is restarted. I just moved from version 2.2.0 or the plugin to 2.2.3. Now it no longer imports the TVOverview field into the summary in the sage DB, meaning that the overview is no longer in the OSD when playing back an imported TV show episode. It's only available by viewing the detailed information for a particular imported file. This importing of data so that it shows up in the OSD durring playback was one of my favorite features of this plugin and has cause me to go back to 2.2.0. Any reason you changed it or could you add an option so we can have it both ways?

Those settings are the same, and the current version DOES import the data from the file. It's just that instead of putting the contents of the TVOverview field from the .my file at the very top of the detailed information (not sure what sages actually calls the field, but it's the summary) it puts it in a field called TV Overview, which sage interprets as being its own section that will only get displayed along with year, cast, etc. when viewing the detailed info and sage does not consider it the summary and display it in the OSD during playback. I assume the change is in HOW the plugin imports the data to the sage DB, not whether it does it automatically or manually or in bulk as those are what the settings allow me to change.

So, if you look at the details for the same video. When you are using 2.2.0 you have different data displayed from when using 2.2.3? What version of SageTV are you using? John |

If you go into Manage Metadata in Options for a video and select Import .my File does that get the data displaying correctly?

As to what version I'm using (not that it matters anymore), I just updated to 6.4.8 from 6.3.10, and since I had to re-import all my cusomizations anyways, I just go the latest version of each one. Hopefully I've now run into all the re-install issues lest my WAF starts to drop. Forgetting to change the account the sage service runs under from localsystem back to the proper priviledged account made recording to my linux fileserver great fun, let me tell ya. |

So when I check the Delete Orphaned .my and .properties files option my SageTV.exe (client) process continually uses 25-30% of my CPU. Is that normal? I assume it's going through all the directories looking for strays, but I wouldn't think it would take that long to do and would finish eventually. That doesn't appear to be happening.

If "Delete Orphaned Metadata Files for Imported Files" is enabled, can you try it with that disabled.
I'll have a look at the code and see if I can track down what may be causing the high CPU. John |
