Just install Nielm's Dynamic Customisable Menus and you can set it up to display as much or as little as you want.

I have started to use Service mode to fix instability of MVP playback and have noticed that the "Edit Metadata" is gone from the Manage Metadata tab. I wiped out all my SageTV3-"#".xml files and imported the new IMDB_Search_Import_6_5 and your RW_Metadata215 STVI's and tried it with and without SageTVService enabled and disabled. The Edit Metadata is only present when the Service is disabled...
Is this a limitation, a bug or is there a workaround?

Make sure Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Metadata Options -> Metadata Save to DB -> Edit MetaData is set to Yes when you are running in Service mode

I now have a one word quote to myself from the great Homer Simpson:

Hey John,

I got a question regarding bulk creation...

I started using the new tv.com scraper and was wondering if is possible to bulk create .properties files for every imported video with an associated .my file and have the data from the .my file imported into .properties file?

The only current way I know of is to individually open each video advanced dialog box and manually create them one at a time....

I've recently started using roxy99's TV.com automatic scraper and before that used pdavis's TV.com scraper and both of these have lead me to realize I need a feature in your great STV import.

Is it possible to have the import look in another location for a .my file, if none is found in the current video's dir? I know this sounds strange but I'm thinking of video files that have been burnt off to DVD. In particuliar I have lots(50-100) of DVDs that have compressed(OGM/MKV) video files burnt onto them but there aren't any .my files on the DVD. I've long ago changed to burning all my videos and including .my files on the DVD, but I still have those older DVDs that I'd like to have metadata available for.

I was thinking of something like what Vobsub does with .srt files. It will first check the current dir for a srt file with the same name(but with a .srt extention) but has an option to specify other Dirs to check for a .srt. Vobsub allows you to specify(thru it's Paths tab when you click on the Vobsub icon) a subdir of the video files dir or a general subtitles dir in another locations. ie. these are my Vobsub defaults
Code:
.
C:\subtitles
.\subtitles
These features would be great in your import IMHO. The ability to specify even just 1 directory to check for a missing .my file would be a great workaround for my old DVDs. ie. "M:\Videos\MyFilesforDVDs" And while asking for a favor, the subdir of the video file would be usefull too IMO. By allowing us to put all our .my files for all videos in a current dir("M:Videos\A_Show") in a subdir("M:Videos\A_Show\MyFiles") would allow use to keep the clutter down in our video files folders. This subdir option would also allow for neater/cleaner DVDs with .my metadata.

Thanx for your time.

New version available for download

(2.1.7)
- Add Option for specifying a global directory for reading .my files from.
- Add Option for using subdirectory (MyFiles) below directory video file is located in for reading .my files from.

They are both disabled by default, but when enabled, will read a .my file from either the same directory as the video file, the subdirectory MyFiles (case sensitive) below the directory the video file is in, or a global directory as specified in Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Metadata Options -> .my file Reading

Wow, that was fast. Much thanx for it. I'll test it out this weekend, but I'm sure it'll be perfect.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

Hi John,

Recently converted my primary server from Windows to LINUX. The MY file generator is putting backslashes into the file names of .my, .properties, and folder.jpg files when doing a lookup of imdb for a ripped DVD. If there is any way to do the \ / differentiation on file name creation, it would be much appreciated. Since linux will let you use the file name with a \ in it, maybe create it the linux way first and if it errors out (as I assume it would in windows) create it the other way. I don't know if you can do error trapping, etc.

Hi B,

See how this one goes, if it doesn't work I'll do it a different way.

Hi John,

Thanks for the rapid response. You fixed the .my and .properties creation but folder.jpg comes out as VIDEO_TS\folder.jpg.

TIA

Hey John,

I was wondering if there was a way to edit the series information to make a Show a certain Rating?

My kids are sometimes watching South Park, Jerry Springer and a few others.
I would like to be able to set the Parental Control rating on a WHOLE series instead of each episode individually.
Zap2it doesn't seem to get it right 100% of the time.

Is this possible with this stvi?

There isn't a way to set a rating for a whole series, it's all airing based. You can manually set them on an upcoming recording but that's probably not something you want to waste your time doing.

Probably the closest thing to doing something like what you want is flachbar's favorite excluder. He already has all the upcoming recordings code as part of that and it might be worth a PM to him to see how hard it would be to create something that sets Ratings as opposed to setting Watched and Not Like flags like favorite excluder does.
