This is a new install on ubuntu 7.04 desktop, java version jre1.5.0_11.
SageTV Linux OEM 6.1 Windows client connection attempts fail with java error, "an exception occured in Java: java.lang.NullPointerException". The Linux placeshifter attempts to connect then crashes back to the server manager window. It connects to the Windows based server with no trouble. Does anyone know what is causing the problem? |

Yep
You also need to install the basic Java player as well. It'll make it easier if you install Automatix and then just let it do the work for ya. FYI: Java is up to 1.6 now which will work with Sage as well. |

Path issue?
I seem to remember getting that issue when the real JRE was later in the path than one of the clones. Please check that the JRE bin directory is first in your path string.
