Thanks. I assume we can go "Over The Top" to upgrade?

P

Edit: Installing the new software wipes out the configured tuners (including analog) in SageTV. All you need to do is re-add them though...you don't need to scan with the HDHR again, as the channels are still in the guide. Just enable and your up and running.

Still not working for me. I have spent about 4 hours just on this. It's exausting. I'm going to bed.

Also, just want to let anyone know. I installed the latest Sage RC 6.2.7 RC2 and it completely knocked out my HVR-1600 and was not able to use it. Then I went back to 6.2.6 RC1 and it came back to life.

As far as getting the BDA tuners set up, I had no problems...but TV watching WAF has gone way down. Rough timeline:

1. Installed 6.2.6 RC1 over the top of 6.1.9.

2. Added the mmc/dev_cap entry and saw the BDA tuners. Ran the 0820beta1 HDHR stuff.

3. Set up the BDA tuners fine, and watched an in-progess recording of a 1080i program...noticed some *very slight* stutter in one part of the program, but it cleared out and I declared victory.

*(The network encoding option with older firmware/software was stuttering bad...you had to wait for a recording to finnish to watch it ((The late may firmware/software was the last time I had no stutter with network encoding, 0515 I think, but timeline issues were there))

4. The next day or two, both Sage and SiliconDust released new stuff: 6.2.7 RC2 and the HDHR beta2 firmware/software.

5. I decided it was time for a fresh, clean Sage install, so I did so with 6.2.7 RC2. (Saved wiz.bin and the channel logos folder, but that's it).

6. Ensured that SageService was shut down and installed the HDHR beta 2 package. Set everything up fine, everything works.

7. Last night: In progress recording of Big Brother 8 stuttered. Waited til the program ended and it still stuttered. Had to watch it in Media Player Classic (No stutter...Sage or HDHR problem?) Then I tried to watch an already complete recording of the Office...same behavior, same solution: Media Player Classic.

8. This morning: I changed the property encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream= from true to false. Started manual recordings of Good Morning America and Today Show....serious timeline issues and stutter.

That's where I'm at.

**When I say stutter, it's not like a ticker jumping every couple seconds, its like THE-ACTORS-ARE-IN-S-L-O-W...M-O-T-I-O-N.

Strange, that hasn't been my experience at all. I do notice that it shows your running an 8600GT on Vista? My client computer I have Vista Ultimate x64 running an X1950XT using the latest PowerDVD decoder and I get no stutter whatsoever playing BDA recorded HDHR stuff. Playback is smooth as silk.

There has been a bug with Nvidia cards on Vista getting stutter in SageTV but I'm not sure whether that's been addressed in the betas.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try a few things:

Update the nVIDIA drivers to 163.44 & install the MS Hotfix.

Update the HDHR to 08302007 code (just saw it on SD's site).

Switch to the PDVD Codec.

Thanks,

P

Hmm, if playback stutters in Sage but not MPC, that sounds more like a Sage problem than an HDHR problem.

I just wonder how much of your problem is due to the fact that you're running Vista and Sage doesn't support EVR. Does MPC support EVR under Vista?

Just fair warning. I just upgraded my HDHR driver to the latest one. It totally wiped out all of my tuners! Kind of a pain in the butt because I had to go back in and figure out the zones for my USB-UIRT again.

Yes. It is doing that to everyone. They should warn you that it will do that.

Which version HDHR software/firmware are you running?

I'm using 20070830 with Sage 6.2.7 on a WinXP machine and everything seems fine.

I think the driver that some had trouble with, like wiping out all tuners, was 0828beta. I never got to try that one. I have this latest one (no longer beta) installed, seems OK here too.

Nope, the one I used was the latest non-beta driver dated 8-30

I tried 0828, and yes it did wipe out the HDHR encoders/tuners, didn't get them back until 0830.

Tuners were wiped for me also.
But 0830 isn't working for me. When I change over and use the 2-80-3 numbering scheme I get no signal. (no picture) When I go back to 0829 that has the single number trigger it works fine. Any thoughts? I actually had done a clean install of Sage and HDHR and still 0830 didn't work for me. Any thoughts?

Just use the first number as was used in the previous version. I tested the 3 digits on one station and it did not work, I then used the single first number and it did work properly.

My tuners were also wiped out. In addition I had to restart Sage in order for it to handle my favorites correctly.

The below is copied from the HDHR forum which I think we're all bouncing back and forth from.

The instructions provided below from Nick worked for me, after a bit of trial and error. Sage 6.2.7 and 20070830 work perfectly for me on XP.

Hi,

We are busy working on the updated instructions. They were meant to be out today but it will be tomorrow.

Summary:
1) name all the channels in the channel editor.
2) configure sagetv.
3) in the sagetv channel editor click the button to disable all channels.
4) for each channel you need to enable it (green dot will appear), and remap the physical channel. Set the physical channel to the n-n-n number from the HDHomeRun channel editor (click advanced).

The below are some screen caps, a few of which I posted here in a MCE thread.

I do remember having to try the different physical remap functions to get it right, but it works.

The 700 channels numbers are created by choosing the Comcast digital lineup for the guide info.

Thanks. That works for me also.
