Yeah, I don't think I've gotten a "wow" out of anyone who's seen my setup yet, with HD DVD. Though I think most can tell the difference, I think the difference is not compelling.

And really I think the studios know that, which is why they're pushing the interactivity aspect so hard.

My Movies 2.31 now supports HD-DVD and Blu_ray playback, from disk and optical drive. Yet another way that My Movies (and MCE) leads the pack in non-pvr media center capabilities.

thanks,

Too bad it still relies on the crappy PowerDVD for playback.

That means there is still room for Sage to trump My Movies... ;-)

I wonder if it might be possible to get something going using the Nero decoders. I know that some folks have had limited success with Zoom Player custom graphs (although you apparently have to rename the app showtime.exe).

It's a pretty thin thread of hope, but a thread nonetheless.

The codec is only part of the story - you need a player that understands the format of how a HD-DVD disk and such are laid out, display menus, etc... All perfectly doable, but not done yet.

Thanks,
mike

Yeah, it involves rebuilding the .evo files with Evodemux and creating a custom graph using the latest Haali splitters.

Pretty much the same thing you have to do with PowerDVD, but it's apparently more reliable, and the Nero decoders are considered by some as more complete.

I say apparently because I haven't tried it myself yet.

I didn't think the nero decoders were usable outside of showtime?

thanks,
Mike
