Have you looked into Batch Media Tools?

This thread was started before BMT was introduced. BMT can convert recordings into sage recordings as well as lots of other cool things.

I am using Metadata Tools right now. Worked great on most on my shows. Failed miserably on WordWorld because the data on thetvdb.com is disasterously wrong, and locked.

Oh well. Just have to do one series mnaully, everything else is going great.

Awesome.. if you have the fanart STVi installed, you can take advantage of one of the features that BMT gives a "wow".

Having to manually enter only one season I would say is a success

I am trying to import my BTV recordings data for use in SageTV 7 beta 21 I think. Anyway, I have v2.28 for the jetty webserver. I have exported my data to ExtractedInfo_sage.xml.

When I go to import the file into the webserver, I get this error:

"is not a valid directory on the server"

Nothing else.

Anyone have any ideas? I have hundreds of shows, and I would like them to show up properly in Sage.

Thanx

You might check with fonceur who created that export program.

Also the BMT addon available in the SageTV 7 plugins is very useful for this as well.

I haven't touched that part since you used it, it got broken on the jetty's side a few months ago...

There are other ways to do this although mostly a one-by-one process of re-adding to your recorded shows with the appropriate title and series name. Let me know if you're still working on this.

Moving from BTV to SageTV: importing XML

Ok, I've followed this thread and created an .xml file that has show metadata for my BTV recordings. But now I need to get this metadata imported into SageTV. The web user interface described at the beginning of this thread doesn't seem to work any more (or I don't know how to use it).

I've install the BMT, and have the jetty webserver running, but I don't see any way to get BMT to import metadata from an XML file.

So the question is:
1) How to import metadata that describes a video file from a .xml file into SageTV?
2) Or, more generally, how to convert over a BTV video library into SageTV?

My xml consists of data like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE sageShowInfo PUBLIC "-//NIELM//DTD SAGESHOWINFO XML 1.3//EN" "http://sageplugins.sourceforge.net/nielm_modules/sagexmlinfo/sageshowinfo_1_2.dtd">
<sageShowInfo version="1.3">

I tested this last month and I was able to find everything. Which one are you missing?

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, for some reason I didn't get a notice that you had replied.

You're looking for the neilm program? I did find it and can send it to you. Send me a PM if you still need it.

The download link to the neilm utility doesn't seem to work anymore, so here is the file in case anyone else needs it.

Thanks Zogg for posting that link to the converter -- I'm sure it'll be a benefit for others that have / or planned on transitioning.

I've finally been able to decom BTV services and am using Sage exclusively.

You will like SageTv. I switch over in 2009. I love having extenders than separate clients on each TV. I still have BTV installed and functional on my server.
