I've not had the missing first 5 minute issue since 6.3.9RC. That fixed it for me and it has not come back. Looking good.

pvr150 issue: vista drivers or sage?
As I've read this thread it seems the majority of people are having issues with HDHR. For me my issue is with my pvr150. I'm running the latest Sage on Vista and I've noticed that anytime I have a two recordings back to back the second show will be missing the first 5 minutes. I've been busy and haven't set up debug logging or filed a bug report although this is a relatively simple matter. I wanted to know if anyone else has a problem with pvr150(or related card) on machine running vista in case the problem is driver related and not an issue with Sage.
Thanks |

I'm seeing this only occur on my 1600 card. I've actually watched this problem in action twice. I'll be watching the channel to be recorded and I've set the next program coming up at the top of the hour to be recorded as a favorite. The display is fine, then as soon as the clock flips over from say 6:59 to 7:00, the screen goes black and sage just displays the "no signal" window in the middle. Note that this is SD recording, I have not setup the HD channels to be recorded yet. I did have the HD source setup (i.e. 418TS was in the list of possible sources).
Completely annoying, I've lost the first 5 minutes of several programs in the last few weeks to this. |

I can get this to occur fairly consistently, and it's always on the second card which is my 1600 (I've got a fairly old PVR 250 card in the first position).
I upgraded to WMP11 and made sure that it's not monitoring or sharing anything. I've also set the fast mux switches. I still see the issue. The symptoms exist where I can be watching a channel, it rolls into the next timeslot for the next program and then playback freezes, then gives me a blank black screen and a "no signal" bubble in the center of the screen. Not sure how the heck that could happen, considering I was just watching that channel! This happened twice in a row last night, but it consistently happens only on the 1600 (card #2), I think it occurs when the other card is recording. So how can I turn on error logging or any logging for that matter to record the condition of why it's throwing this error? |

I've had this happen with my HDHR about once a week. I happened tonight. I had set the .par files up with an 800ms wait option, and it still happened tonight. I just flipped the switch on the fast mux setting, so I will see if it happens again. Kind of annoying.
I'm running 4.3.10, but thinking of doing a clean upgrade to 10.4.3 this weekend.

A question to those who are still having this problem. Did you disable the always tune channel option in detail settings? I recently started to have the problem, and tried the seeker fix without change, but that is the only setting that I made thats out of the ordinary. I haven't had enough recordings to say that its 100% gone, but it hasn't occurred to me in several days, and I could at least count on it hitting one or two recordings before that.

Should I be disabling the always tune channel option? what does this do?

Scratch what I said. I happened again tonight. Only seems to do it when its several shows back to back. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
djseto: What it does is toggles through an option of having the program retune the channel when a show starts. Disabling it, at least in my situation seemed to make the pause between the creation of a new file quicker. |

6.3.9RC fixed the issue for me but when I upgraded from 6.4.6 to 6.4.8.184, it has come back. See the early part of this thread for all my custom setting to avoid this.
I'm going to downgrade back to 6.4.6.

I am seeing the same 5 min issue on a fairly regular basis since installing my 2250 a week ago. I am using SageTV v6.4.8. Has anyone else had any luck fixing the issue with this version? The problem doesn't seem to be limited to a specific tuner card. It appears Mark57 fixed it by downgrading, but I don't have a previous version to downgrade to.

Nope, haven't been able to fix it, but I did actually experience it during a live feed. I had turned to the channel a few minutes before it was set to record, and the signal was clear with no problems. And like clock work, when 8pm came the feed cut out, only to return about 9 minutes later. I actually thought for a second that it was the station acting up until I checked on a alternative set and saw it was fine there.

The race last Sunday started to record, about 15min in it just stopped. I'd have missed the whole thing if I hadn't tuned in to check on it. That's been the only glitch I've seen regarding this issue in months.
Now if they would fix the thing jumping to "live" when I tune into a show that's been recording for some time I'd be happy. This seems to happen only on HD.

Bump. PVR-150 (2 of them), same 5:xx minute problem.
Guys,
Just bumping the thread. I purchased/installed Sage v6.4.8 about 3 weeks ago, first time install, with 4 MVP licenses. Celeron 2.3ghz, 1gig RAM, 2 PVR-150 tuners. I've noticed that the "first five minutes" problem as well. 4 out of 25 recordings in the last week were affected. I've tried both settings for 'Always Tune', no difference. Seems to affect tuner #1 more than tuner #2, but has happened on both. |

Time for a bump.
This happened to one of my recordings from last night. It was a back to back recording. I have been running 6.4.8 since it was released. I have never had this problem before. I have recently upgraded 3 things. 1. I upgraded the drivers for my HD PVR, however these recordings are not on that device. 2. I upgraded the firmware and drivers for the HDHR, however these recordings are not on that device. 3. I upgraded Java. Also since the upgrade we have seen where we lose the signal when a new show is supposed to start recording. This problem is happening on all tuners. So the really strange thing is the recording that is missing 5 mins was recorded on my HVR-1600. I have made no changes to that device in a very long time. So is this problem related to Java?

Missing first 5 min very repeatable
Update: I have noticed that I miss the first 5 min (exactly) EVERY SINGLE TIME I record 2 shows back to back on the same encoder I have hooked up to my STB through s-video. This causes it to happen ~80-90% of the time I record something due to the lineup of my favorites. I haven't tried turning off always retune even when on same channel, to see if it fixes it. My HVR-2250 has 2 encoders and I'm not sure if I miss 5 min every time on the encoder hooked up to the wall.
As I am watching something already recorded (or have the tv off) I actually see my STB change channels exactly on the hour, and then again 5 min later whenever this happens. (firewire channel changing never has an issue) I am new to SageTV so I don't have previous versions to have seen it working (and now change) so I don't know if it is a Java issue. |

Are you doing any padding before or after one or the other favorite programs?

My recordings are missing the first 5 minutes. How do I fix that? And, there are a couple beta files you should be using with the 2250: SageTV Beta for Windows: DShowCapture.dll and TSSplitter.ax - Andy
