So I can't get smooth playback.
I have only tried one blue ray and that is the The Dark Knight. I picked this movie because I read that HelenWeathers was able to get smoothplayback by just copying the largest M2TS file. I did that and it stutters every couple of minutes. What am I doing wrong? Will putting it into an MKV fix this? Why are others able to get smoothplayback without the extra work? Here are some specs: Server: Processor - Core2quad q6600 Ram - Crucial - 2 GB OS - Windows Home Server SageTV - v6.5.9 Playback on STP-HD200. Latest beta firmware. Network is all gigabit. I do have a layer 3 switch so I could put the server and the extender on their own VLAN but I'm not sure that is the problem. Can anyone offer some insight? |

When I saw this post I dug out my disk and tried playing the m2ts file directly from the disk and got the same pausing that you are getting. What's worse is that I muxed this movie to hard drive (I used ts back then, not m2ts) and when I try to play it now it reboots my HD-200 for some reason. Extender Mode: The ts file does play from my hard drive in Extender mode without problem. I muxed this file and tested the m2ts playback on December 31st and am not sure which firmware I had on the HD-200, the 20081230 or the one before that. I don't know why, but now I'm having the same issues with this movie now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

toony said that he had The Dark Knight working on the 100 in mkv format so it should work in mkv on the 200 as well.

The Dark Knight is going to drive me nuts.
I just used TSMuxer with output set to Create Blu-ray Disk. Selected playlist 00100.mpls directly from the disc, kept VC-1 and AC3 english 6ch tracks and muxed to my hard drive. The HD-200 plays the resulting 00001.m2ts file from the streams folder with no stutter at all in Player Mode and Extender Mode. Give that a whirl.

Anybody get Vicky Cristina Barcelona BR to work...ran eac3to and got the video and PCM streams, but it only has a 3.0 PCM audio track and I can't get anything to convert it to ac3. eac3to chokes with an error (The AC3 encoder received a non-supported data format (pcm, 3, 16, -). <ERROR>)...it could be a bad rip but I haven't tried to re-rip it yet...waiting to see that someone else was successful before I go back to step 1...

A bit off topic, but since we have some experts in blu ray extraction -
I'm trying to downconvert .mkvs to a format supported by Tversity so I can watch them on the psp in the house when I don't have time to go sit down in front of the TV and pop in the disk or use the HD200 (yes, paying for blu ray to watch it at 480x272!). Basically, this means being able to stream to a PS3. Anyway, I've come across a number of .mkvs that I have generated that playback fine, but don't format convert at all. Luckily, I own most of my media on blu ray AND DVD (I feel lucky!) so I can always do this to the corresponding DVD, I guess. Any thoughts? The conversion methods that I have tried on certain files either fail to open them or generate horizontal flashing lines and stuttering. The same PC plays the mkvs or the original blu ray just fine. I haven't found an obvious correlation like all h.264 or all vc1 or all mpeg2. EDIT : I basically found various ways to convert the containers into something more friendly to the transcoding packages. Watch out for mkv2vob. It seemed to delete the .mkvs after conversion - lost about 20 mkvs that way - that's like 80 hours of pain - hope undelete works. The delete after conversion box was unchecked. Any thoughts? (haven't found a good place to ask) Last edited by MarkV; 03-10-2009 at 10:20 AM. |
