Ah, that's the missing piece I didn't realize. Of course, I've only installed a new tuner once....back in 2005, way before I started with Sage MC.

Thanks Andy.

An STV update is available for v6.4.5. See the first post of this thread for info about how to check for an STV update.

Among the changes: a modification of how logical channels are assigned during digital channel scans and a fix fo DVB-S LNB file creation. Check the update in the STV for a full list of changes.

After the 2008071601 STV file set update, System Information should report the following:

Current STV File: SageTV3.xml (Version 6.4.5.4 July 16, 2008)
Current STV file set version: 2008071601

Note: you will only be able to update to this STV version if using the default STV with v6.4.5.

An STV update is available for v6.4.5. See the first post of this thread for info about how to check for an STV update from within SageTV.

Among the changes: modifications of how channels are matched/mapped during digital channel scans (ie: fixes for HDHR tuner config) and a fix for a translation issue in the hidden malore menus. Check the update in the STV for a full list of changes.

After the 2008071901 STV file set update, System Information should report the following:

Current STV File: SageTV3.xml (Version 6.4.5.5 July 19, 2008)
Current STV file set version: 2008071901

Note: you will only be able to update to this STV version if using the default STV with v6.4.5.

I have the same issue. Using the default SageTV3.xml of 2008071501.

I'm having a problem with the STV updates on my Vista x64 client. Basically when I do the update the STV file set gets updated but the SageTV3.xml version doesn't. I just did the latest update and it still says it's 6.4.5.2. I am running with UAC enabled (and no I won't disable it). Any ideas?

Let me see if I understood you correctly:

- The updated STV is downloaded correctly and exists in the VirtualStore.

- After going through the update process, the STV 'reloads' but System Information is still reporting the old version.

- If you then manually load SageTV3.xml, then it loads the one that got downloaded.

Is that correct, or does the updated STV file never get downloaded & saved in the first place?

- Andy

It doesn't appear to actually be downloading it at all. I actually have a log of it. I don't see an STVUpdates folder in either the virtual store or the actual program folder. It appears that all it's doing is updating the version in the properties file.

I think I just realized why it's not working. On Vista x64 all 32-bit programs go in "Program Files (x86)" and not "Program Files". I actually found a SageTV folder in "Program Files" and that's where the STVUpdates folder and updated xml file are located.

I'm not sure where the "C:\Program Files\" path is coming from, unless it is coming from the server, like seems to have been happening to a Mac user earlier.

Is SageTV installed in "C:\Program Files\" on your server?

Did you used to have SageTV installed on another Windows system & you copied the properties file from there to the Vista 64 system?

Does your properties file contain "C:\Program Files\" somewhere? The '\' may be '\\' on the properties line, so be careful what text you search for.

Yes, I'm running Windows XP on my server so SageTV is installed in "C:\Program Files\".

No, I didn't copy the properties file from a previous system. It was a clean install on this one. There are no instances of just "Program Files" in the properties file. Only "Program Files (x86)".

The issue with the STV update path has been found & fixed for the next beta release (full release, not just the STV). This should fix the previously mentioned Mac issue for the same problem.

Taddeusz: I noticed your log showed a similar problem for the online video property file updates. Would you open Studio on your Vista 64 client & let me know which path is reported when you use Tools -> Expression Evaluator to run the following command:

GetCurrentSTVFile()

And, is your STV really located where that path says it is?

Thanks.

Ok, figured out how to start Studio, never run it before. That command shows the path as:

C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\SageTV3.xml

And that is really where the currently running STV is located.

Thanks for running the test, but I was only misreading the log; there is no problem with the code to update the online video properties file.

Anyway, until the next beta installer is released, you'll need to manually copy the STV updates for your Vista64 client -- just do the update & move the file from its currently wrong location.

An STV update is available for v6.4.5. See the first post of this thread for info about how to check for an STV update from within SageTV.

Among the changes: more modifications of how channels are matched/mapped during digital channel scans (ie: improvements for HDHR tuner config) so that channel names can be matched to channels on other lineups if the current lineup doesn't have the channel. Check the update in the STV for a full list of changes.

After the 2008072201 STV file set update, System Information should report the following:

Current STV File: SageTV3.xml (Version 6.4.5.6 July 22, 2008)
Current STV file set version: 2008072201

Note: you will only be able to update to this STV version if using the default STV with v6.4.5.

Why is there no update available?

I'm running v6.4.5 with the default (SageTV3.xml), but when I check for an update it says there's no update available for 2008070201? My system info actually says that I'm running v6.4.5.179.

2008070201 is a v6.4.4 STV & has no updates. I'm not sure how it is getting used with v6.4.5. Did you replace the STV with an older one somehow or are you using a custom STV?

What exactly does System Info list for "Current STV File".
