Be careful with Drupal, it can be a hog. I just finally learned to tame it and get memory usage under control.

I started a site that I haven't had time to really get going yet, but decided on SMF for the forums. The Drupal stuff was really pretty awful. I also decided not to use the "wrapper" module for SMF/Drupal since it seemed to cause more problems then it solved.

My site was/is to be Automation & HTPC, plus audio recording and video editing. But real life got in the way and it got back-burnered. Hopefully I'll have time to promote it and get it going soon.

Have you seen www.byopvr.com?

Seems like what you're talking about and personally I think the domain name is a little more intuitive than the ones you've mentioned.

I have seen them, they have a great name and, much like htpcnews.com, haven't updated their website since April.

Any suggestions for a name?

I even found a good host for the site, hostmonsters.com offers good service with good pricing, I just have to take the leap, register the name and cough up the 72 for the first year of hosting. That part is a little tough with my wedding and honeymoon coming up over the next two months, but I'll probably register the domain in the next day or two.
I'd have to say that the htpcinformation domain would be good - did u register it in the end? I'm also on hostmonster - just signed up with them. What are your thoughts with their service - i'm expecting a lot of traffic on my site soon and wondered if it was going to hold up. So far I have nothing but good things to say about them but hope that their unlimited hosting, unlimited bandwidth policy stands when the traffic comes in.

Have you been getting much traffic on yours and how is running?

Sorry for the delay in responding. I actually put the release of my website on hold because I got married on August 10th and the prep for that took all my time. I have just finished redesigning my site and will be 'going live' with it sometime in the next week.

I ultimately decided to keep my underfunded.info name for the site since I already have it and it is unique. I also choose to host internally off my own server. This is something I am comfortable doing since I am by trade in the IT field and am knowledgeable enough to run it on my own. Once I go live I will steadily monitor my traffic and bandwidth requirements to make the right choice as far as external hosting is concerned. Besides the initial cost the reason I choose to host my own server is control over the site. I am able to run my chosen version of Drupal and any other software that I want rather than being stuck with the 'supported' version of the webhost hosting the site. I do understand that I could have a dedicated server and control the software version on my own but that is a lot more money that I am not prepared to spend on the startup so far but will when it is needed.

Take a look at the site and let me know what you think of the latest build:

Thanks,
Ian McLean.

I love the layout except for the blog in the front page, you should put the blog under another tier, and maybe add some content instead
