I like that better than my BS: much more concise.

But I don't know how an innocent user would take it. i.e. What is "boot up"? ditto "Connect" and "SageTV Server".

My experience has been that people who are familiar with computers beyond a certain level have a hard time explaining things to non-PC people.

I've got relatives - with more IQ points that I ever dreamed of - who use computers all the time, but don't even have the concept of an operating system. Their mental image of a PC is on the complexity level of a toaster or hair dryer.

When I try to explain PC stuff to them, it's hopeless. If I let myself go, it's too technical; if I try to hold back I'm in danger of coming off as condescending.

IMHO the job needs tb done by a professional writer who knows the technical level of the intended readership.

A developer is probably the worst possible choice for the job.
