Ok - Maybe I'm missing something here - I scheduled a program to record, then exited Sage and tried to find anything called something like 'schedule.txt' and came up empty.
How do I generate this file for use w/ this power management app? Thanks... |

You have to enable the schedule file output in your sage.properties file.
Find scheduler_export_file and change: Code:
scheduler_export_file=C\:\\Program Files\\Frey Technologies\\SageTV\\schedule.txt |

No i haven't tried Active Exit yet. Just staretd leaving my Sat box on 24/7. However my Sat box seems to lock up every once in a while and needs to be reset. Due to this i am thinking about Active Exit again. You had mentioned about another utility. What is it ? Anyone knows of any freeware that can run a batch file before the pc goes to sleep? |

On a separate note....
Just reallized I never tried SageWake without the "terminate" and "execute" options. Was just wondering if i needed them in the first place. I'm thinking of giving it a try. Pls let me know if i'm wasting my time. I'm using the hauppauge ir app to control Sage. Using USB-UIRT to control my sat box from within Sage. |

Gaurav,
It is worth a test, but on my system when I resume from standby or hibernate the USB-UIRT no longer changes the channels. John

Hi,
First I want to thanks mwhitlock for SageWake, it is really useful ! I just have two problems with it : The first one is that when SageWake wakes up SageTV for a recording, after the recording SageTV never go in standby again ... But if I wake up SageTV myself, it returns to standby later. The second one is not really important but a little annonying: If SageWake wakes up SageTV, Windows don't wakes up the screen so to have access to SageTV I have to press a keyboard key or to move the mouse ... Is there a way to tell Windows to get the screen out of standby when it is wake up by SageWake ? Finaly I have a last question (not really tied to SageWake) : When my computer is on standby, the only way to wake it up is to push the power button. I'll like to be able to wake it up with my Hauppauge remote control, is it possible ? Only the first problem is really annonying for me, I can live with the two others. BTW thanks again to all the SageTV community for everyting ;-)

Thanks for your link, this thread become quite long and that's not easy to find something specific ;-)
For my first problem, it seems to be caused by the Java auto update service and by a mistacke I made in the scheduler.txt path ... I'm still testing it but it seems to work now. For my second, I had an idea: if I find a little windows exe that simulate mouse move, I can call it from the SageWake execute parameter ... I think it should work. For the third, I didn't find any idea to wake up the PC from standby with the remote ... I'll try to search in the BIOS settings.

Command line help needed
I have a pvr-350 and am using the video out, so when the computer goes to sleep I loose the on screen display.
I understand the need to use the comman d line to basically shut down sage when it goes to standby and reload it when it resumes.... but I have never used the command line. I need some assistance in exactly how to step me through it. Thanks in advance. |

Is there an easy to access FAQ of how to use Sagewake? It would be cool if there was a little thread where common questions are answered. For instance in the readme of sagewake, nowhere does it specify where to install the program. I am VERY new to Sage TV, so I have no idea where to put this cool program. better yet, is there any place where i can find an INSTALLATION GUIDE?

Nobody has written one. You can put SageWake wherever you want, though it's most convenient to place it in the folder where you have configured SageTV to output its schedule file.

I have it in my desktop right now, and it says it can't find the schedule file. Where is Sage defaulted to put this schedule file and are there any changes i need to make to the properties file of sage to get sagewake to work? Can you please provide me with a quick install guide (i.e. the common steps/tweaks needed to make sagewake 100% functional)

To create the scheduler file, see post #203, above:

SageWake by default will try to load a file called "schedule.txt" in its own directory. If you have your schedule file elsewhere or under a different name, you should use the --schedfile command line argument to tell SageWake where to find the schedule.

So all i need is this schedule file and i am all set, or are there more steps that need to be taken?
Edit: I saw the post about the schedule file "scheduler_export_file=C\:\\Program Files\\Frey Technologies\\SageTV\\schedule.txt" but to get into specifics, where in the sage.properties file do i put this in? Also, how do i go about to create this scheduke.txt? By the file extension it seems like i will use notepad and then click "save as" (I am a specifics oriented person when it comes to things i am not too sure about). Your program sounds cool which is why i am asking so many questions. Last edited by mets3145; 08-15-2004 at 11:51 PM. |

You don't put the line into sage.properties. There is already a line containing "scheduler_export_file=". You just need to fill in the part after the equals sign.
You won't be creating the file. That is up to SageTV. That's why it's an "export_file". Get it? |

Start Notepad, select Open and File, navigate to the SageTV folder, then in the file type drop down change to All Types.
You should then see the Sage.properties file in the list. Select and open it. Entries in the file are in alph order, so just scroll down thru it and you should find a line: "scheduler_export_file=" (without the quotes of course) You can just add schedule.txt to that line after the equal sign and it will default to creating the file in the SageTV folder. If you want/need the file to be in some other folder you would have to enter the complete path. Then just click Save. You don't have to mess with the extension or Save As... BTW: The schedule.txt file is also usefull if you do not have Intelligent Recording turned on because it also lists what shows IR would be recording if it was on. Nice way to get some idea how IR might work out for you if your not sure you want to use it or not yet. |

I'd just like to add that if you do not use Intelligent Recording, you should use the --noir option for SageWake to get it to ignore Intelligent Recordings in the schedule.

so where should the sagewake executable be stored?
