I guess what I would LOVE to see is enough of a standalone web browser architecture to support the streaming video from the major networks. I've had cases where for whatever reason a show did not get recorded so off we go to nbc.com or whatever and watch the show from there.

I can defintely see a problem that just about every network uses a different streaming method. I may be dreaming a bit but that would be very cool if they could find a way to offer up expanded web content via the extenders.

Well, I think that's sort of the point of the review. Potential customers might not buy the HD200 because of their desire to access Youtube/Hulu/Netflix.

In that case, they shouldn't.

But he was not fair to the product, since he didn't evaluate it as it was intended to be primarily used.

I focused on the comments "delivering what it promises, more or less" and "buggy" both of which have been my experience so far with the HD200.

He also experienced the 'reboot' problem, both unexpected reboot and reboot required to continue operation that happens to me several times a day.

With the demise of PC Magazine, I think their product reviewers are more so now low- or no-pay freelancers.

The standalone interface sucks at accessing files from your PC. It is cumbersome and ugly. Especially when it comes to playing music. Since that is how he reviewed the unit, I think the review was justified. I wish he had praised it more on how it can be connected to the Server software, but overall I don't think it works as well as a AppleTV with Boxee at playing media from your PC. It can play more HD media than Boxee, but it is so cumbersome it makes it not really worth it.

Wait until they figure out this horrible POS doesn't run Vista Premium, can't work as a gigabit router, and is a simply horrible enterprise-level KVM.
