Take a look here. I am not sure if it is in 10.4, but the answer should be in the Lirc package I imagine.

Lucid + hdpvr = no happiness for me

I had 6 hdpvr's working quite well under Karmic. I upgraded to Lucid and I have periodic crashes. Even when it does not crash, I cannot get a single hdpvr to record more than 50 minutes or so before it locks up.

I am going back to Karmic. The wife and kids have pitchforks and torches.

Same issue, AFAIK most actions can be controlled via the keyboard (FF, esc, pause) but be darned if I can find a "stop" key which makes it impossible to stop videp play and return
to a previous menu.
Control-S stops playback.

I have a problem with the OSD in some HD resolutions too.

Were you running the PAE kernel in Karmic? This kernel is designed to handle machines with more than 4GB of memory (or really, physical memory mapped above the 4GB barrier), and tends to be a rather unusual environment for drivers to run in (64-bit physical addresses but 32-bit pointers, less vmalloc space available because the page tables are so much larger). The 10.04 release uses PAE by default if you have 3GB of RAM or more.

I'd at least try switching to a normal (linux-generic) kernel and see if that improves stability for you.

I have found problem with Placeshifter and Ubuntu 10.04. It silently fails if another application is using Alsa to play music. Please see

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...51&postcount=3

No visible error message, it just skips to the end of song and hangs.

SageTV Media Center

I upgraded my SageTV Media Center from karmic 64bit to lucid 64bit this weekend and had one big problem, which I finally fixed. Lucid switches from Sun Java to Open Tea Java which is not quite up to par yet with Sun's java. Any how when you try to start sage server I would get memory fault errors. So, to fix the problem I had to add to my Software Sources to include the lucid partners repository, so I could load Sun's Java. Once you add the repository you run sudo apt-get update and then install the following sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-fonts sun-java6-plugin ia32-sun-java6-bin then to configure java run sudo update-alternatives --config java. Make sure choose 32bit Java since Sage TV is a 32bit app. When I was searching for a solutions for this problem I came across this thread and felt I should contribute what I found out with my upgrade experience to Lucid.

Just a create a sagesetting file in the /opt/sagetv/server directory (if you haven't already)

and paste this in the emptyfile

Code:
PATH=/opt/java/bin:$PATH

I installed it to /opt/jre1.6.0_21 but created a symlink /opt/java to point to the jre directory

Works with no issues.
