Beta-HDPVR capture errors
Well - HDPRV improvement was listed in the beta improvements list and I was hopeful for the first few days, but had the Capture error popup this morning on the screen.
Two things - What is Sage's driver recommendation for HDPVR? Since we have the error logging/ System messages, can we NOT show this popup every 2 minutes (on top of the previous one). I like to know about the issue, but it is very annoying for others in the family. Once the popup has shown up, can it be "snoozed" at least until the next scheduled recording? |

+ 1 No need to have this pop up every 2 minutes. VERY distracting--especially when you are watching on an extender at the other end (and downstairs) from the Sage server

What driver version are you using on your HD-PVR? I updated to the latest (v1.5.6.1) when I installed Sage v7 and haven't had any trouble.....yet!

Having more instability than v6.6. How do you verify which driver is currently installed?

Depends on the version of Windows you have for specifics, but here's a general idea. Open up Device Manager and expand the Sound and Video devices. Find the HD-PVR and open it's properties, there's a driver tab which will have the drivers version.

I read some wherez on the forums that long USB cables can cause problems. I think it said 9ft was the max..but shorter would be better. I'm not sure about the 64bit drivers. I am using 32bit Vista, one would think the drivers would be equally stable...but it's never good to assume. Hopefully you have a wicked long cable. (yeah I used wicked!) Getting a shorter one might help!
EDIT Found where I read this: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...&postcount=115

HDPVR Failure
Well, so much for the new improved Sage 7 and the HDPVR. I had a device failure this morning ("x41" according to the system messages screen).
I am using SPDIF and the 5.3.0.1 [oops, I mean 1.0.5.301] drivers. Should I be using different drivers? - Jeff * merged * Last edited by jsonnabend; 05-25-2010 at 03:24 PM. |

does the HD-PVR work independently from Sage, through ArcSoft TotalMedia?
I'm using the same drivers (1.0.5.301) for my two, SPDIF as well.

Wow...with the 1.0.5.301 drivers I was never able to use my optical spdif cable. As soon as I plugged it in the HDPVR would freeze up requiring a power cycle, and I got all kinds of playback errors. As soon as I disconnected the spdif cable things worked great. I know it's annoying but if you guys are having trouble, and use those drivers you might want to try it without the spdif. With the latest 1.5.6.1 drivers I'm finally able to use my spdif cable. Worth a shot!

+1 on limiting the capture error messages. I think the red i in the top is enough to alert me that something is wrong. My wife can't fix it and it is really annoying when it goes down when she is watching TV.
