STVI: Enable/Disable Favorites

I am trying to find time to upgrade to the beta so I can fix this. It probably won't happen until this weekend.

At some point, I'll need to purchase a second sage license, so I can fix things like this without upgrading my production server.

This import allows series favorites to be enabled and disabled without removing them. It adds a button to the Advanced Options of the Favorite Details screen that will either enable or disable the favorite (depending on the state that it is currently in).



On the Favorites Manager screen, disabled favorites will be shown in red (transparency and color are properties). From this screen the record button will toggle the highlighted favorite's enabled/disabled status.




How it works: When a favorite series is disabled, "DisabledFavorite" is added to the end of the category for that favorite. (Which will stop the favorite from recording, since the category won't match any airings.) Enabling the favorite removes that string. This import also hides the "DisabledFavorite" string if it is present.

There is now native API and STV support in SageTV v9 for this feature. Since there is now API support, v9 doesn't required mucking with the favorite's category. Because of this, when updating from v7 to v9 it is best to:

1. Enable all favorites
2. Remove this STVi
3. Upgrade to SageTV v9
4. Disable any favorites that you desire

Is this still available for SageTV v7 installs? I either looked for it the other day and couldn't find it, or it wouldn't install due to an error.

It is still available for SageTV v7. It's hosted on Sourceforge (where I moved after google code shut down) which I've noticed with some other plugins has been flaky. I've had to try installing some plugins several times before they'd download successfully.

If this continues, I may look at moving it to somewhere else.

ok, I'll let you know the specific error when I try again

UPDATE: still getting the "failed" error via the SageTV plugins menu when trying to install this plugin. Also went to Sourceforge to look for it manually and didn't find it. If you have a link that would be great. Any chance they've moved or deleted it?

The link used in SageTVPlugins.xml is here. I just tried downloading it manually (in firefox) and it worked, but when I try in sage, it always fails. I'm just going to look at moving it.

Ok, an update will show up shortly. I've moved the plugin to bintray.com (the opensagetv project where many other plugins are hosted). I verified that I can now successfully install from within sage.

I had to disable the dependency on the STV Configurator, because that download is broken. So if you have that already installed, you can configure this plugin from within the STV, otherwise, you'll have to edit sage.properties directly. [There is not much to configure, you can change the color used to show a disabled favorite if you don't like the red that I chose. I imagine that very few people have changed that.]

I tried changing SageTVPlugins.xml to point to the link but Sage keeps looking to bintray and failing.
I was able to download it from your link, so how to I manually install the updated plugin?

I forgot that Sage 7 couldn't handle HTTPS downloads (works fine in Sage 9 where I tested). I've submitted an update that uses HTTP. Let me know if that fixes the issue for you.

In v.7 it's within each, programmed favorites menu I think. Not sure about v.9
