I think I'll have to try your extension to get a feel for it. What I like about doing it my way is that I can schedule the "recordings" for times when we're sleeping or not home.. If yours can do the same, it might be worth switching.

Watching commercials on Hulu is very different than watching commercial on regular TV. The Hulu commercials are typically only 15-20 seconds not 2-3 minutes like live television. I can live with Hulu ads.
