Really - I would like to jump to my defined favorite view when I select a genre. i.e. if I select genre family, I want to go to a poster view of all family movies in my collection. (Poster view is already * in my movies root menu)

You can do this already you can set your view for each genre/group/folder individually. Hit favorite on a genre/group to see the options. you can chose a view and sort. Watch the group video for a demo.

It looks like my group is losing so I thought I would add my 2 bits... I would think that adding support for other providers like BMT/Phoenix would make this excellent solution available to many more Sage users who may not want to invest in the overhead of the MyMovies full solution.

A second benefit would be that it would let PLUCKYHD release those TV Series screens for the rest of us to play with while he waits for the MyMovies guys to catch up to this functionality

First .. Many thanks to Plucky and any/all other helpers on this code as it is a fantastic addition to Sage

The major missing piece for me is multi disk support. BMT/pheonix would be nice but the multi disk will have more affect on the WAF

A couple things I would like to see, my apologies if they are already available and I just haven't figured out how to do them yet.

1. Lock a client to a particular folder (software client or hardware extender). Kids movies would be a prime movies in the kids folder with no option to choose another folder or to even see the other folders.

2. Hidden/password protected folders. Much like enabling the beta feature on the HD200 firmware update, you type in a code and you can now see a folder and all the video's that are in it. There is some stuff that I would like to have in SMM but wouldn't necessairly want to have available and easily found on my living room TV, or even the presence of the folder itself to be easily found.

3. Options/settings to configure the layout and menu options. At least on my TV, once in SMM I have real estate to see 6+ left side menu options at once but only 3 show up and I have to scroll through them.

4. SMM is very cool, but some stuff just isn't worth putting into it (short clips, music video's, possibly crappy movies, etc). I see SMM as the permenant repository after I decide to keep the video. Currently I run SMM for the movie repository and then have the standard folder browser built into SageTV to browse video's in a seperate UNC file share. A feature inside of SMM to launch the SageTV folder browser to a particular UNC share would be very usefull to me, otherwise I need to exit out of SMM and go back into the SageTV folder browser to get there and vice-versa

5. I would like to see all the video box covers on the Genre view, even the genre's that are not currently selected. Perhaps like the poster wall view, have all of them on there but the selected Genre is larger and less transparent.

6. A seperate filter menu, perhaps on the opposite side of the options menu (on the left in the views I am usually in). Much like the bread crumb filter option available at newegg.com for computer hardware. For example a list of the following filter items: (watched/not watched) (decade filmed) (genre) (IMDB score) (new videos to SMM) (rating) etc. Those would be a visible list down the right side of all views that aren't filtered by default and I could check/uncheck certain search terms to filter the selection down. The whole pane could be turned on/off, but I would like an option for it to be persistantly on, I check a setting and the list of movies to the left filters down.

Another example of #6 would be the attribute/tag filtering of Magento based web stores. You have one flat category for all your products, but click the atributes (gold:men:ring:classic:wedding) and you would only see gold classic styled mens wedding rings. This feature would allow a person to choose a view that they like the most and do all of the filtering inside of it instead of having to jump between views to find video's in different ways.

I really like ideas 2, 4, 5, 6 below.

I would add #2 for genres also, having the "adult" genre come up just because i have a few "questionable" movies, would be nice if you HAD to hit a pin to show that genre to avoid the questions.

I too store music videos, etc.. in a non-mymovies managed folder. A quick button tot the video folders menu would be great

#5 sounds like a nice display option

#6 sounds like alot of work but with a cool product.

#1 hmmm that is probably doable but will see if needed once parental controls are kicked on (I haven't enabled that feature yet)

#2 Are you referring to folder view? If so that would be easy to do on a client basis with a setting in the client properties.

#3 Not going to happen it was coded that was for a reason. The list going all the way to the top didn't look right but the options menu may change a bit here and there.

#4 I don't really see the benefit here I mean you can add default stuff into the main menu, no filtering by a folder is a benefit and I can look at adding that (bug it).

#5 this is on my radar but a ways of from getting implemented as it will take a good amount of recoding on my part to allow groups to be viewed in all views.

#6 Dynamic filters can already be created in the MM collection manager and work very well. As well as some of the filtering options (watched, online, offline) already exist in view filters as well. There is a goo dynamic searching mechanism coming in the future.

cheers

#2 - All views. For example, say I have 3 folders. Kids, Movies, Adult. My TV in the livingroom, where a guest could easily look through everything, would show all of the video's in the Kids and Movies folder in all views and would be filterable between the two on the Folders view. I type in a PIN and now the Adult folder in the folder view AND the adult video's in all views are now visable. Parental controls could probably take care of this one example, but say I have a bunch of video's that are objectionable and don't want to have publically available to everyone but would not be considered adult content. I don't want them to always be visable on my public livingroom TV but I would want to be able to type a PIN in and view them myself.

#3 - Cool. It just looks odd when the top 2/3 of the screen is unused for a lot of stuff, and on a bigscreen this looks even more odd. Even the active Genre on the Genre view is down at the bottom 1/3 of the screen with nothing much going on above it.

#4 - Staying inside of SMM 100% of the time for everything but TV would be preferable.

#2 That is actually a good idea and way to filter it by folder never thought of that and per client. That is a good and seemingly easy idea to program in (probably a couple of hours) I like that idea please bug it on the google code site so I will remember.

#3 genre view the genres do go up as you scroll eventually taking up the entire screen.

#4 how about a "home videos" type screen where you could select a folder or folders (not imported into SMM) and view them there with a simply list type view?

#2 - Will do.

#4 - That would be perfect. Would I be able to change the text to "Other Video's" ?

I was thinking about something like #4 so I could view/play back my downloaded trailers which aren't part of SMM

Since we are voting on stuff, would it be hard to add a "categories" view just like the genre view utilizing the categories tagging of mymovies?

I have been slow to implement mymovies but I like being able to implement a filter or a catagory of
DVD
Bluray

to separate the two.

Almost 50% of my collection is multi disc, so I would consider that my top request for this fabulous plugin.

Thanks for the great work so far, Plucky!

I agree with wjones. Love SMM, but would like to see multi-disc support added.

Thanks for your efforts, Plucky!

Would it be possible to have line to line wrapping? Let's say you are in sideways view. If you scroll to the right, when you get to the right side you have to then go down and back left again - out of order.

Could be get it so that when you reach the right side and continue to push the "right" button it would go to the next line and start at the left side again.

You can do this with the filters in the MMCollection Manager didn't know if you were asking or stating.

Not quickly that would require a good bit of coding on my part since that is not the way the default tables act. It is possible but I wouldn't look for it anytime soon I think that would be more confusing.

You would see a new build release if there was one....There sure are allot of issues dissipating from the googlecode site though so I would "presume" one is close.
