I've shut down the sage service, deleted the extender property files under the Client directory, started the service, set the User categories and views using the server client and verified the entries are correct in the sageclient.properties file. However, upon starting the extenders (mvp, hd200) the settings are not inherited from the sageclient.properties file (as noted in post #58) to the extender property files.

Extenders inherit properties from the server application, which uses sage.properties, not sageclient.properties. And, sageclient.properties does not inherit from sage.properties.

You could either copy lines from sageclient.properties, run in non-service mode temporarily to set up the views for the extenders to inherit & then return to service mode, or set up one extender using a fresh properties file, then copy its properties for any other extenders.

So I finally attempted to do this today and it did not work. I set up my menus and filters for user defined categories in a clean placeshifter properties, replicated the settings to Sage.properties, deleted the client properties for the placeshifter and started it up again.

The menus did not replicate.

Any thoughts?

PS - If I place the settings in the Remote.properties.defaults it does replicate.

Was SageTV not running when you edited Sage.properties? Are the values still in that properties file. I just tried & confirmed that a property not already set in a placeshifter's properties file is still inherited from the server's properties file.
