Very cool indeed. What rev. ffdshow are you running?

stanger89:
What rev. ffdshow are you using since you are running with nVidia which I would do as well. Also notice you have the additional codec property pages displaying. Recently found that setting myself.

I suppose that could be done with nVidia's Post Processor NVVPP.ax. What syntax does this sage.properties line item have? Something like this?:

videoframe/additional_video_filters=<Friendly name of filter>,<Input pin name>,<Output pin name>

nVidia Post Processor:

videoframe/additional_video_filters=NVIDIA Video Post Processor,XForm In,XForm Out

The variable name also says ...... filterS. So I assume more than one can be added. How might this be done?

Jeff to the rescue please.

dfa, just add a new line.. with the new decoder info.

----

ok i finally got nvdvd3 to work.. at least i can use it in sage now, took 3 more uninstalls/reinstalls, but the icon in the tray wont show up when its being used...

so i cant change any settings, without having to open up graphedit, and then i dont get but only 1 tab.. the video tab (see stranger89's screenshot) all those other tabs are nonexistant..

maybe a few more reinstalls will do it.. *shrugs*

I just added ffdshow like mlb posted, nVDVD is (was) the default on the system. I'm really at a loss as to why this actually works, the additional_video_filters line is for adding non-default filters like nVDVD (before it was added as a supported filter), it's not for adding post processing filters.

Also wondering if anybody else has noticed this. When I use nVDVD with ffdshow I get horrible chroma bug (at least that's what it looks like).

nVDVD + ffdshow (ie chroma bug)

Have you tried yet to adjust the decoder properties in radlight so you can use another decoder like Sonic or ATI cyberlink???

xlr8shun:

In order to see the additional decoder information, you have to add an entry to the "Video" and "Audio" keys found at "HKLM\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Filters\. The entry is dWord type <EnablePropPage> set to value of "1".

This works for 2.55 as well as 3.00 giving the same 13 tabs of audio and video information and settings.

If your not getting the nVidia tray icon, I would guess that:

a) The codec is not properly registered or

b) You are not actually using the nVidia codec in Sage

You can re-register the codec by opening a DOS prompt and navigate to the directory where the nVidia codecs reside. Then from the DOS prompt, enter "regsvr32 nvviddec.ax" and after that "regsvr32 nvauddec.ax" and "regsvr32 nvvpp.ax" if you like.

Hi:

I tried plugging in nVidia's video post processor as I guessed at how it should be entered as given above in previous post.

videoframe/additional_video_filters=NVIDIA Video Post Processor,XForm In,XForm Out

It does indeed work. CPU useage was at less than 10% before inserting the Post Processor and went to 40% after. Additionally, the NVDVD codec applet confirms it with "Decoder Format" stating "Software Mode UYVY" and "NVIDIA Video Post Processor". The PQ seems noticably improved to me with use of the Post Processor.

Stanger89:
Could you try nVidia's post processor and check it with the "red collar" capture that did not look so good (chroma bug appearance) with ffdshow? Very curious I am.

Thanks mlbdude!! Your timing was perfect since I just got the nVidia codecs working properly. Now I also have VPP.

Stanger89, try some different deinterlacers and also try deinterlacing with ffdshow.

How are you switching your default decoder? So far I can only try Elecard and don't see the red bleed.

I'm using the Radlight Filter Manager to adjust filter merits to get the one I want.

Aslo it doesn't appeart to be a deinterlacing problem, it looks like it's a chroma bug/chroma shift problem.

So, more screenshots for your viewing pleasure:

nVDVD + nVVPP You can still see the artifact in this screenshot (I'm wondering if there isn't something wrong in this version of FWMM).

nVDVD + ffdshow with the problem fixed. What I did was use the ffdshow offset function with Chroma Y = -2 and Dscaler Chroma Filter = Vertical filter.

Have you tried to see if you get the same results in Elecard? I will try NVDVD tonight now that I know how to reorder my default decoders.

I was really at a loss for what to do here, I really like the nVDVD decoder, it's got a great deinterlacer in it, but on my HDTV it was a little soft, so I liked the results when using ffdshow with a little sharpen + Dnoise3D, but then I got this horrible chroma error. Oh well, one issue down, more to play with now.

I don't have a liscenced copy of Elecard, but I ran it for about 30s (dancing boxes are horrible) and don't think it had the same problem.

Thanks Stanger89:

Yes, you can see it with the nVidia VPP capture you have provided, not quite as pronounced as the earlier ffdshow capture you posted but there just the same. Interesting that it does not show for the decoder by itself (nVidia's or Cineplayer's).

When it does not show with the decoder by itself are you running it with Hardware Acceleration?

mlbdude:

I noticed from Stanger89's early screen capture that included a look at his nVidia applett which showed DXVA disabled. What impact do you think DXVA might have if any?

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is FWMM?

Just curious if he the bug is noticeable always with DXVA off. But if he has gotten a nice image without it then it is moot.
