Damian

Great guide, I would never have gone for sage without this as my initial attempts hit plenty of brick walls.

I'm looking forward to what you do with 3.2 and how if it makes it better. 3.1 seems pretty good for me though.

Also any chance of persuading DVBlogic to expand the tuner capability to 6 tuners, they say its on the list but don't seem to want to give any indication of when?

I second rhinoman's comments. Damien's guide is ESSENTIAL to making sense of how this all works. In particular, if you are using a terrestrial card as I am, then it is not at all intuitive in DVBLink as to how you set this up.

I have one of the new Blackgold dual DVB-T2 cards & it has worked flawlessly with DVBLink V3.2 & SageTV V7.023 on my WHS since I installed the card just before Christmas.

From what Damien is saying, it appears that DVBLink is the way forward to making SageTV more compatible with European services as DVBLogic are more on the ball with DVB than Sage are. Whilst this a "good thing" in the short term, it still makes the setup complex:

SageTV
DVBLink
Digiguide
XML Grabber
Stephan's Importer
Damien's DVBLogic2SageTV

Fortunately, It all works together well thanks to the dedication of the devs, paid & unpaid. However, it means that, as well as paying for SageTV, you need to subscribe to Digiguide, buy DVBLink & buy Stephan's importer, which adds up to about 50% of the original cost of SageTV.

Both Freesat & Freeview have on air EPGs but they don't seem to be anywhere near as comprehensive as Digiguide. If the on-air EPG issue could be solved then we would be left with just DVBLink & SageTV with Damien's DVBLogic2SageTV as the interface.

Alternatively, if Sage supported Digiguide natively as they have said they might, then that, too, would simplify the setup.

how to separate?

Ive got DVBLogic working nicely with SageTV on same PC. Thanks for your doco Damien.

Can anyone advise what I need to do to get it to Run with DVBLogic on 1 PC and sageTV on another?

I am assuming it has something to do with the network pack but cant seem to find anything.

Found it.......DVBLink Client

more issues

I spoke to soon!!

I only seem to be able to view 1 DVBS 1 channel on sageTV. When I try to change the channel DVBLogig issues the defualt screen that the channel cannot be tuned because all clients are used.

Even Help Channel on FX is the same. It does not appear to be sage related because DVBLogic is issuing the screen.

does anyone have nay ideas?

That would be a bonus, though you'd get the showid to calculate properly so we don't get repeats as even with Stephans importer it can go astray!

Boil42,

Why do want to run DVBLogic on a separate PC to Sage? Why not run One Server copy of Sage on the PC with the tuners & DVBLogic then use the other as a SageTV Client. You can program up from either.

may be it's just not supported by server, i currently use dvbe4sage but it's fail on 7th TechnoTrend USB DVB-S2 card. 6 working fine with 2 instances of dvbe4sage, when i add 7th...it's fail with same instances or just running 3rd instance of dvbe4sage.
looks like some limitation of Windows 7 (and XP) kernel streaming or some driver limitation.
this way i use currently 2 SAT TV providers, but i want a run 3rd one(only from separate computer).

Is there a list of supported hardware for dvbe4sage? Will it work with my blackgolds?

Just want to say been running the DvbLogic setup with three channels for a few months now with 7.0.15, its rock solid and makes channel retuning even easier than with the native drivers. Also Oscam updates the card. A great SageTV solution for the UK. I use Digiguide for the source, but other EPG alternatives would be a bonus.

All I need now is iPlayer support and I'm a very happy bunny.

Damian

Any chance you will modify your exe when dvblogic removes the 4 tuner limit in the next release?

Seems the best way to keep Sage going in the long term as new types/brands of tuner get released and not supported by Sage natively.

I'm not sure whether Sage will continue to work with the next version of DVB Link as they're switching to using PBDA drivers instead of BDA and from what I understand Sage doesn't support PBDA, so it would probably require someone to write a Sage plugin that interfaces directly with the new DVBLink API.

It doesn't matter what drivers DVBLink uses to talk to hardware as long as they still present the same virtual tuners for SageTV.

It's the virtual tuners that are switching to PBDA, have a look at the details here: http://thedigitallifestyle.com/w/ind...nk-v4-details/
