great. at least one person thinks it is $30 well spent. With so few adopters, what is the likelihood the author will continue support, or for how long? It doesn't seem practical I should think from their point to support a product so few people seem to know exists.

ok, well it's at least good to see people talking about it, even if they may not be supporters at the $30 price. That's not expensive from my standpoint if a) it works, and b) it will be updated if necessary

For one thing, reviews are limited to your own Country, or to the USA if you're not logged into iTunes. Then it is a niche market, there are a few thousands SageTV users, out of those there are a few hundreds T*SageTV users... So no, I didn't get rich from those, but the apps sure did a lot better than the wines inventory adventure...
Hi again...forgot to ask: is there a manual a can read somewhere? I was wondering how difficult the process to be able to connect to my server from say a Starbucks. What are the steps, etc.
Where could I find that info?
thanks

looked thru that - the answer wasn't that clear. I'll run thru it again. Did you ever buy a copy of this app?

Not sure how much clearer than: "Detailed instructions are available on the TiSageTV wiki." I can make it...

I just posted a review in iTunes. I almost didn't buy the iOS version because I have an Android phone and already owned the Android version. However I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the app for my iPad2. I'm glad I did. Obviously the app does everything the Android version does, but it also will stream recorded shows very easily to my iPad. This is a feature that has never worked well on the Android version (not Fonceurs fault, but Android handles video differently from what I understand). It is neat being able to stream any recordings directly to the iPad, even over 3g if needed. That feature alone is worth the price of the app.

When you say "stream", does that mean from let's say an airport or coffee shop? What about "live" video from your SageTV server - does that play on the iPad as well?

Yes, stream to anywhere on the Internet as long as you have everything (SageTV, Server, Router, Internet connection, domain, TiSageTV network settings, firewalls, etc) setup to allow it.
Any that your upload (to the Internet) and your download (TiSageTV's connection to the Internet) is fast enough.

Unless you're talking about 1080i recordings via the HD-PVR. I have yet found anything that can transcode those properly for remote streaming (I have a system with horsepower enough and an upload speed of 20+ mb/s).

that was always Placeshifters' downfall

ok, I'm onboard. One question to start...I know my servers IP address and the port number I've used for
Placeshifter.
I've entered those in the settings page along with my wifi password, but can't connect. did I miss a step, aka do I need to edit the plugin on the server, or add a line to Sage properties?

I'd say you missed the part in the wiki which says: The port and password would match the entries made in the Server section (i.e. 9250)... In other words, it has nothing to do with the placeshifter's port or your wifi password, the app is connecting to SageTCPServer...

ok, realized that and changed it to 9250. It only worked when connecting locally through my own router. When I tested thru a neighbours router - nothing. So, I opened up ports at 8080 and 554 after installing VLC.
IS that necessary? Sorry, as I said earlier, the instructions were a little confusing from my standpoint.
What's the difference between "Play" and "streaming", because "play" never produces a result.
I can see my Sage server, and all my recordings (No clients involved), but "play" does nothing
What am I missing? Where do passwords come into play..the jetty part? I just left those at default settings.
PS - leaving for airport in 25 minutes. lol. do what you can if you read this to help me
Also, can't get audio files to play from server (media center) either. They all appear, just can't play them

The iOS app does not use VLC, only the Android one does. To use from the outside, you need to forward all the relevant ports, 9250, 8080 and the 926x. Of course you can't use your local IP (i.e. 192.168.x.y), but need to go through your router (possibly setting up a dyns)...

Well, feel free to quote the parts of the wiki which aren't clear, and say how you would reformulate them...

Quote:

Play will play on the SageTV client you are monitoring (top-right icon), like say an HD300 extender...

Quote:

Nothing to do with that one either... In the SageTCPServer plugin configuration, you can setup a password if you want.

Quote:

Right, jreichen never implemented the music streaming in the iOS streaming plugin. So again, the Play command acts on the HD300 or whatever you are monitoring...
