I downloaded kylo browser and it automatically links into Windows M.C. Would it be possible to add this sage in a similar fashion ?

Sage has been playing with this since 2005 at least...I'm going to guess that since it hasn't happened from them that it is fairly difficult to deal with, or very low demand.
Ref: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14235 [edit] well, at least there have been some developments in the Java arena since 2005. JDICplus: https://jdic.dev.java.net/documentat...lus/index.html unfortunately, IE only, but supports Flash and document embedding (Office, PDF, etc). The launch Hulu desktop opens into a browser window on the hulu website if the desktop app is not installed. I would seem someone who hade a clue could make it possible to have as many of these as he wanted pointed to different websites or in this case the kylo home page.
Would love to see something like that. I suppose eventghost could be set up to toggle the sage screen and open a browser window from the desktop and toggle back as needed too. |

Another vote for Kylo. I'm currently running it on my client pc and would love to be able to run on HD300.

I'm currently moving away from using "media extender" class devices to using HTPCs for this very reason.
The amount of video content available in a browser is expanding quickly, and on my primary HTPC I find that the amount of browser content is dwarfing the amount of content that comes in via a TV tuner. My solution: use small HTPCs (instead of XBOX media extenders) to complement my "primary" HTPC (the one with all the HDD space), and look at switching to SageTV from 7MC so that I can watch Live TV via Sage from my "secondary" HTPCs. The reason for the change? Based on recent usage trends in my house, I suspect more time will be spent watching video via a browser than any other source, so I'm optimizing for that use case. I picked up a few of those products from Hillcrest Labs ("The Loop") to make using a mouse-based interface more seamless from a 10ft UI and they work very well. Also, if you find Kylo to be a little slow, Google Chrome has a "default zoom" setting that was recently added, so web pages can show up at a configurable zoom level (I use a ~200% default zoom). |

+1 ... I use the simple browser in my Boxee Box. Would be nice to have one in SageTV.

I too would like extender support for a browser.
It seems like the easiest way to do this on the extender would be to video screen-cap the FireFox/IE browser window on the SageTV server and "play" the video of the live browser back on the extender. Advantages: 1. Easier than trying to get the extender to run the browser natively somehow. 2. All web browser plugins would work because it is just a video cap of the browser. No mucking around with custom browser code. 3. Potentially extremely smooth video on decent encoding computers. |
