Have a bit of ui lagging issues only in recordings...itll spin forever and is really starting to make me angry. Last time this happened to me it was caused by .prop files and the links that were setup in the wiz.bin for recorded data.
What is stored in the wiz.bin? - favorites - recording locations - import locations - viewing history . . . anything else? I am thinking of starting from scratch and just reimporting my recorded shows...The metadata seems to always get messed up and cause ui freezing issues... |

Sage needs the 32bit version of Java, have you tried 6u22 32bit? 64bit Java is for 64bit applications.

Yeah i figured as much, but was trying anything i could think of. I def had the 32 bit version installed when everythign was going all haywire.
What i did for my previous post with the wiz.bin is 1) updated to java 6u22 2) exported favorites 3) removed import directories 4) removed recording directories 5) cleared all traces of wiz.bin and let sage recreate it 6) reset import and recording directories 7) reimported favorites 8) let sage rebuild everything Now everything is running 100% perfect. I don't have my viewing history but i dont' really care i just wanted my favorites of course. I am back up and running in tip top shape...finally! ~Pix64 |

How did you export your favorites? How then are they imported? Must be BMT huh???

you can do it directly through the web ui build by neilm. its pretty sweet. I didnt' even know about it till last night when i was creeping around the forum.
if you go to the favorites there is an xml button on the top which allow you to export the favorites as an xml doc, and then to import you just go to sageTV import XML file...pretty sweet!!! ~Pix64 |

Wish I would have known that about a week ago or so. I did a fresh re-build and decided that I was going to start over with the wiz.bin too. I physically wrote down the favorites that I wanted and re-built them later. Oh well, what's done is done... Good to know for the future though. I wonder if BMT can do this too?

yeah i dunno. I don't use the intelligent recordings, and really don't care all that much about mine and my wifes viewing history, so when things got jacked up this past go around i just said forget it im goign to start from scratch. I think what happened is i ran into issues with metadata and sage expecting things to be in a certain location based on what was int he wiz.bin, but then it wasn't.
So recording possibly got moved, and I know for a fact i setup my dvd/bluray import directory different than what was originally setup prior to the move.... oh well. I have done that before to, and you would think after the pain and suffering i went through last time, iw oudl have remembered this time around |

I'm having this issue as well, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I just let Windows install the drivers - I don't have anything "special" that needs other drivers.
I've tried removing all the directories and the wiz.bin and letting Sage rebuild everything after a fresh install of the latest 32bit Java. However, I have not had any success. I really don't want to go back to WinXP. Is there anything else I can try? |

Well, I really didn't want to hear that. I've tried everything you outlined with no success.
I've got a Gigabyte GA-X58A motherboard with onboard 10/100/1000 NIC, an Intel Core i7-950, and 6 GB RAM. I have two Hauppauge 2250 tuners installed and a "generic" video card. It is mostly a headless server, so I rarely connect a monitor to it, but have the card installed just in case. Hopefully this will be addressed in a future update. Thank you. |

I've been running Sage 6 on my Win 2008 64-bit server for a year now, with 3 HD200's. Everything was running great, then I upgraded to Sage 7.
Now I've got spinning circles everywhere, have to restart the Windows service every day or two, and the family is getting pretty frustrated - last night we missed several recordings. Downgrading to XP is not an option, but I will try going back to Java 6u10. Any other suggestions welcome...

I'm having all the same problems as you guys are discussing, using Win7 64-bit. I have an HVR-1600 and a PVR-150, and an external HDHomerun, running on an AMD X2 with 4GB ram.
I just tried installing Win7 32-bit on another partition, but it doesn't really improve anything. I didn't have it fully set up the way it was on 64-bit, but I played with the HD300 for a few minutes. Right off the bat, the menus were still choppy at times, and it didn't improve. CPU use on the server was almost nothing, and no recordings were happening at the time. It's connected to a Dell gigabit switch, and the server is 1 gigabit, and I don't have network issues (eg, no problems copying to/from the server at gigabit speeds) so I highly doubt it's a network issue. I'm running HD300 firmware 20101007-0, Sage 7.0.23.246, STV 2010120101, Java 1.6.0_23. I'm hesitant to try the beta HD300 just because it is somewhat functional right now (it just looks crappy, and every now and then it has an abnormally long delay of 20-30 seconds while exiting or starting video playback), and I'm afraid the beta will make something worse. I think I just need to file a sagetv support request. It would be nice to hear from Sage on this issue -- clearly multiple people are experiencing it. They must be able to reproduce it.. is this being worked on? Does Sage have any ideas about the root cause (java version, 64-bit, bug in sagetv..)? Is there a fix that can be expected soon, or is this being considered an end-user configuration issue? |

How do you tell if you're running the 32 vs 64 bit version of Windows? I picked up a machine last weekend that came preinstalled with W7 Professional.. Although my setup is different I'm wondering if it might be a problem in the future if I'm 64 bit..

From the Start Menu, right click on Computer and choose Properties. It will say in the "System Type" field if it's 32 or 64 bit.

Only problem now, much of the video content now in videos not in recorded tv. So I lost grouping by show title which I like. Is there a way to get back into recorded tv with airing information? By the way - my setup was working for months with 6u22, and went south after 6u23. Reinstalled 6u22, I removed all my plugins. Still had problem until recreated wiz.bin. This post saved me , was was about to do reinstall. The only plugin I use is sjq, with agent and ui mods. Any clues as to what could have corrupted the wiz.bin? You can use BMT to move all of those recordings back into your recordings directory...
I really have no idea why the wiz.bin would get corrupted after updating java. thats doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Glad this post helped you out and you are back up and running. Thats always good news! |

I installed BMT, and have been reading the BMT forum, yet can find quite what I am looking for. When I import videos as recordings they show up, yet the show title is the filename - with the sagetv airing id. I read similar posts, yet haven't found quite what I need. I am looking for a way to batch update the metadata for files that were imported from video, so that the sage id in the filename is used to get metadata from tvdb and update so that show name, series, episode etc is current with what can be retrieved from tvdb. Then they should move to recorded tv more readily - i hope. Some of my recorded tv shows as type move others as tv - they are all recorded from sagetv - hd-pv - some have been converted to mkv files using sjq4 and mediashrink. Any nudge or direction to other thread or help would be appreciated. I am still digging through posts and user guide - documentation - yet still coming together.
