I went to one race - 2009 Valencia - had Paddock seats!
Wish I could afford to do that every week - but Austin's innaugural is on the books for sure. any NEW rumors on when the Colossus is being released? |

Not really sure. Maybe not real-time, but probably close enough that it will get caught up each day. The only atom I've got is the Atom330 in my truck. I suppose if I think about it I could put a recording on a thumbdrive along with comskip and give it a shot.

I can save you the time. I used an Atom 330 based system for over a year. I was just a few minutes behind for a 1 hour broadcast. And it could do 2 to 3 of these at a time thanks to the multithreaded dual core processor! But it was more like 5 hours to process a H.264 encoded file, and no chance at transcoding for streaming video. I also noticed that when I went with a more powerful processor my HD PVR is 100% rock solid stable. It was fine IF a recording was successfully started, and most of the time it was fine other than some distorted audio right at the beginning.

Aw heck (OT)...I was at the inaugural Indy race, won't make Austin. Spa is the race I'd like to go to. Colossus, right...glad it's an option. Can the HD Fury be used in some way with it?

If your STB does not have component outputs but does have HDMI then the HDFury would come in handy, otherwise no need.

Plus, if they close the analog hole, that will be your only choice to get premium HD

Check out Hauppauge on FaceBook. They're selling the Colossus for $129.00 to friends of FB.

Crap, here we go again. Ordered another Hauppauge produce before release. Hope it's not an HD-PVR all over again.

That's a good price... I've thinking about ordering an HDHR-Prime, assuming Sage supports that with copy-freely content, but $130 is cheap enough I might have to give it a try.
My biggest complaint is comskip does an awful job on about 50% of my H.264 recordings, and my current server (Athlon X2 3800) doesn't finish scanning jobs very quickly. It would be great if Sage would support mpeg2 recording off this. |
