Edited to say.... Yup, it's 2.5 Amps.
Since I replaced the power supply with a DLink I had laying around, no recording failures. The unit I used is an AF1205-B and supplies 2A.
(I still ordered another unit from Hauppauge only because I don't know how good or old the DLink is.)

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. This problem was driving me nuts and now it appears to be gone.

Spoke Too Soon

Well, I spoke too soon. The unit continues to fail with the DLink power supply, but much less frequently than before. Usually around 3pm and sometime overnight.

I replaced the original 3A power supply with a 2A DLink, but I will order a new ps from Hauppauge to see if their ps unit works any better.
