Comcast - Any improvement from Composite to S-Video?

Comcast provided me with a cable box that has RF and Composite outputs which I connect to a PVR-150 via composite video. I'm signed up for Digital Starter.

Is it worth it to try to get this box exchanged for one with s-video output instead (which the PVR-150 also supports)?
e.g. Motorola DCT-2000, DCT-2500

Would the s-video provide a noticeable improvement, if any, over composite?

thanks, john

Yes, S-Video will be a bit better than composite.

But for HD of course, you need them to give you a box outputting component video for recording (with, say, an HD-PVR). The HD output via HDMI can go to a TV but is copy protected for a recording device w/Sage.

If you get the Motorola box you could also try firewire. I have Comcast and the Firewire recording works great for me. The only problem I have is sometimes I can't start watching a show till it has completed recording. If I try to watch while it's recording I get the error message "Can't tune channel". After it's done recording I have no problem watching the recording. I have been doing this for several years and it's been very dependable. I think i have only missed 3 or 4 recordings in all those years. I also use the svideo for several channels that firewire is blocked. The only draw back of doing it that way is that Sage thinks its two separate tuners and will not catch recording conflicts. The quality of the svideo is defiantly not as good as firewire.
