I see about same CPU utilization with VPP (+/- 50%) and w/o VPP (+/- 15%) in VMR9. As stated before, I also like VPP but after an hour or two, Sage will unceremoniously crash with only a trace of the event logged by Dr. Watson. Wish I knew what the problem was so I could use VPP all the time. You would think after a run of two or more hours that things were stable but not so. Some quirk comes into play.

Any chance it could be a heat issue? That's a long time to run to suddenly get a crash.
Also are you using VPP by choosing it within Sage or are you using the config of NVDVD 3.0 to have it use VPP? It may be worth trying it the other way.

It (VPP) is selected through Sage. I have only codecs: no applications for any of my codecs and I have most popular codecs. The applications are not needed.

I have also wondered about a heat issue since everything is working harder and temps have risen. But the temps are still in spec when the crash occurs, so.... but temp has been on my mind as well since I also thought it strange to run perfectly for that long a period.

If no one else coraborates my experience, I usually start looking for system specific things that may be peculiar to my system. My HTPC is going down next week anyway for a major fan and cooling update that has been in the planning for a while so we will see after that.

On my desktop computer running Client, sometimes "live tv" will freeze when starting the live video after a second or two, I have to quit Sage client using task manager and restart it. This doesn't seem to happen with previously recorded videos. And it doesn't seem to happen with my laptop client at all.

Thatdude, this sounds very similar to the problem I'm currently trying to resolve (working with Sage support). On the client, whenever I start watching a show for which a file hasn't started, I get a second of audio and video and then it pauses. The menu still works, so I click "Close File" and then reselect the show in the Guide, and everything's fine. This happens both when I change the channel and on the same channel at the beginning of a new show. Does this sound familiar?

Interestingly, the problem goes away if I set the recording directory to its default -- only when I choose a different recording directory do I get this behavior.

I'm not using the default directory, my video directories are "c:\video and f:\video2". "LiveTV" only, it starts -- stops, then becomes unresponsive, happens once in a while for me, and only on one of my clients.
