I am running my logitech squeeze server on a linux box. The IP of this server is 192.168.0.50 on port 9000. I tried changing the auto IP to 192.168.0.50:9000 and it will not accept the :9000, so I tried just 192.168.0.50 and it still did not work.

My sage tv server is running on windows 7. I checked processes in task manager and when I check processes for all users - freenfs and freeftp are listed. Is there anyway to test these to make sure they are working?
My extender is an HD300.

Should questions be asked here or via email?

Thanks,

Dan
Hi Dan,

you haven't mentioned so I need to ask, after enabling the extender in the configure section, did you switch your extender off (by means of the power button of the remote control) and wait 30 seconds? This is how the mutual exclusion works.

The freenfs required by HDx00 works on windows 7 both 32/64 as I tested it as well as the freeftp required by MediaMVP and the fact that they are showing in the processes list is good and means that they are working properly.

The Squeeze server can run anywhere and unless strictly necessary, as explained in the plugin help, please leave it to "AUTO", also the port 9000 is for the Web Server and not for the protocol which doesn't need to be specified.

Please continue to report any issue here as it could be beneficial to other users.

So, does your plugin definitely definitely need 7.1.x or could it possibly be run on 7.0.23? Pretty please?

Hi Lee,

when I started this project last year I was using the latest SageTV 7.1.9 and the most recent version of all the other plugin this software depends on, however the Squeezeslave player is independent from SageTV so you could have good chances to make this software working on your SageTV server version, also the number of SageAPI I'm currently using is very limited and I don't think the plugin interface has changed between 7.0 and 7.1.

At the moment I'm not in the position to re-qualify the plugin for version 7.0.23 as there are other dependencies which need to be re-qualified as well, however I want to help you, so here's the idea. If you PM me your current "SageTVPlugins.xml" in your SageTV installation directory, I'll reply to you with a new file called "SageTVPluginsDev.xml" which you have to copy in the same location. The new file will override the current dependencies versions for the Squeezeslave plugin in only and should allow you to download and install the Squeezeslave plugin, subsequently by enabling the debug log you need to look for any error message related to the Squeezeslave plugin as you restart the SageTV server. If no error messages in the log, then you'll be able to use the plugin safely for the time being. Next step is to purchase the license in order to make the Squeezeslave player working. Sorry, but this is the best I can offer you for now.

...or at least it would be, if I could work out how to add an attachment to a PM.

I've attached the xml file to this post instead.

Routerunner,

I did turn the power off using a universal remote (I am asssuming this is OK - the light goes from blue to red on the front of the HD300). I have also waited for more than 30 seconds. When the HD300 is on - I see it in the sage server plugin and when I hit configure the device shows up and is set to true. Once I turn it off and the power light goes red the device dissapears from the plugin configuration.

Is there any way to test the freenfs? When I go to its install directory and run it ...I get a message that says: "A NFS server is already running on this machine" Is this normal...is it refering to the running instance that is listed in the processes? I also noticed that when I try to run freeftp and hit start is says:" unable to bind socket make sure no other (and then I can't read the rest as you can not click on the status window to see any more). I understand from reading the thread that I don't need freeftp but maybe this message gives some insight to what is going on.

Thanks for your help!
Dan

Please find in attachment the zip file containing the file you need to copy into your SageTV installation directory. Once the file is copied please go to "Setup->SageTV Plugins->All Available Plugins", look for Squeezeslave under "General" tab. Look at the plugin details and now it should be marked as "compatible". Follow my instruction as before. DO NOT purchase the license if you find any Squeezeslave/Telnet plugin error in the log.

Good luck!

Eddy

Jetty Web Server Conflict

So, I've been getting errors trying to log in to my webserver from anywhere on the net.... and it all started when I upgraded to the ver2 of this squeezeslave player plugin. If I kill the FTP and FreeNFS gizmos... my web server works. To me, this is a deal breaker. I use the jetty webserver all the time. Is there some port configuration we can do here or something? I donated for the ver2 plugin.... and well... it's not gonna cut it for me.

Any ideas?

That is absolutely normal and expected, when you power off the extender, after 30 seconds, it gets unregistered from SageTV, then it will become Squeezeslave player.

Please don't run those servers manually, the plugin knows what to do with them.

Now, before going any further you need to power cycle your Windows 7 machine and then please follow these instruction:
  1. Wait until SageTV server is up and running
  2. Run your extender in SageTV mode
  3. Make sure the extender is enabled in the Squeezeslave configuration
  4. Switch off the extender (your remote will be fine), as soon the extender led is RED
  5. After more than 30 seconds, telnet into the unit
  6. At the prompt type "ps" without double quotes
  7. Do you see "./squeezeslaveplayer" in the thread list?
  8. Type "uname -r" without double quotes, do you see "2.6.33-5-sigma"?
  9. Type "cd /tmp/nfs" command, followed by "ls" both without double quotes, do you see three files?

Hi,

as stated in the documentation, if you have an FTP already running on your machine, then you need to disable the one provided with the Squeezeslave plugin, so just go to the Squeezeslave plugin configuration and set the "FTP server" property to "FALSE" and please restart the server. However be aware that if in the future you want to use a MediaMVP then you need to create a new user account within your existing FTP server, the documentation tells you how to do it.

BTW, I have Jetty web server running on my server as well, but I don't have any issue, I use it from work via a VPN tunnel to my server at home. AFAIK jetty web server doesn't use port 20/21 as it is an HTTP server on ports 8080, unless you have changed the default configuration maybe?

The jetty server is set up with defaut ports.

Eddy,

I did everything you suggested above. I did not see a ./squeezeslaveplayer in the list.
I did see 2.6.33-5-sigma
I did not see three files.

Attached is a copy of my telnet session.

Thanks,
Dan

Thumbs up Got it!

Eddy,

Thanks bro. All is good. It does sound better on my HD200 than the first release. This will be a great asset. Well worth the donation.

Peace,

Can you please tell the community what you've done in the end to make it working? As the FTP server is only required for the MediaMVP and I think a lot of people have the jetty web server for the excellent nielm's web server. I'm thinking for the next release to add an option to specify the port as well so that two FTP server can coexists, however this will open a full can of worms regarding potential port conflicts unless you are a IANA expert .

All I did was uninstall the Jetty webserver and the mobile webserver and everything that depended on the Jetty webserver... Restart the server... then re-installed everything Jetty after your plugin was already installed.

Basically I intalled Jetty after your plugin.

I cycled power to the extender (HD200 pulled the plug and plugged it in again) then I turned it on with the remote... Loaded up SageTV... Watched a brief piece of video. Shut off the extender via the remote power button... Waited 30 seconds or so.... pulled up my Ipod Touch with IPeng on it and selected some music to play... I used my Slacker radio account. You could just use the Squeezebox Server Web controller as well.... and select squeezeplay as your player.

Really that's it.

Hi

I put the file in the sagetv directory, and restarted the server, but it is still showing as 'not compatible'.

Details about squeezeslave are still present in the original xml file - presumably, the info in the initial sagetvplugins.xml takes priority over the sagetvplugins dev.xml?

Thanks for the feedback, but I'm still a little bit suspicious regarding the alleged incompatibility with Jetty web server...to me sounds more like there was something not installed properly in the first place. The order on which the plugins, without dependency with each other, are loaded into the system shouldn't matter, but I maybe wrong.

However, I'm glad you had it working in the end...and looking forward to your next donation
