Sage not seeing tuners
I've had Sage for years and yesterday all of a sudden it stopped working - won't record and won't play live TV. I have a dual tuner HDHomeRun connected to the network, and it seems to be working because the QuickTV software that comes with it plays TV on the server works fine. In Sage, I tried deleting the tuners in Video Sources and putting them back in but when I do a channel scan it finds no channels. I'm totally stumped - any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Sage but no luck. I went through the configuration wizard and Sage sees the two HDHomeRun tuners but a channel scan gives 0 tunable channels. Strangely the recording schedule still shows my favorites ready to record - so apparently uninstalling Sage doesn't really completely uninstall the program. Playback of previously recorded shows works but it won't record new shows or play live TV.

If you uninstalled sage and reinstalled without deleting the folder after uninstalling, it will still have problems after the reinstall because it is using the config files from the sage setup that you uninstalled that doesn't work.

I just did another uninstall, then went to C:\Program Files and deleted the entire Sage folder. Went through the whole configuration wizard, added the first HDHR tuner, did a channel scan and again 0 tunable channels. Again, the HDHR QuickTV software works and shows TV on the same computer.

IF using OTA you have to make sure in the properties is is set to ATSC
Are you using OTA or QAM if QAM see below. Did You check to make sure in the application tab in the HD Homerun software it is set to SageTV.... also did you make sure that the SCN Hd Homerun files are being created in the Sagetv program folder. Ex Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1015A352-0-0-QAM.scn What I would do is make sure The application is set to Sagetv and the I would do a full scan in the HD Homerun software apply it and check for the SCN Files.

Thanks. In the HDHR Setup utility I changed main program to Sage on Application tab. In Sage it found 40 channels so that seems to be working. It won't play live TV on the server though. Also the REC indicator keeps coming on at random times - why is it taking it upon itself to start recording a random channel at a random time? Then it won't actually play these spurious recordings. I'm having all kinds of problems.

OK now I'm making some progress. Changed video renderer to EVR on the server and now have live TV playback. Still puzzled by random recordings at random times of random stations.

Are you sure that Intelligent recording is not on?

No, I disabled intelligent recording when I went through the config wizard.
You've been very helpful. After I changed main program to Sage in the HDHR Setup application tab and did a rescan and hit apply, there is now a file C:\Program Files\Sage TV\Sage TV\Silicondust HD HomeRun Tuner 1019055A - 0 - 0 - ATSC.frq which I'm guessing is some sort of mapping of ATSC OTA channels to frequencies and / or the channel listing downloaded from the Internet. |

One Final Note after you do a scan in the HD Homerun apply and setup tuners in Sage.... you have to do a scan in SagetV on all your HD Homerun tuners that will create new FRQ files... this will be real quick. There should finally be a SCN and FRQ for each HD Homerun.
Good Luck and Glad I was able to help.

You're right - I did a scan on the other HDHR tuner and it created another .frq file. I don't see any scn files though - is that the file extension? Are you sure it creates scn files for ota versus qam?

Scn is only created if you are using QAM
