Some problems with SageTV

I don't know if this is related to the recent Java update, but I did install it after having forgotten to disable the service. I did exit SageTV though. At any rate I'm suddenly getting a huge number of "plugin missing installed file" messages, and failed software updates. I'm also getting "Channel Lineup Lost from EPG Server" so I don't get any program guide information.

I've tried resetting the plugins that have "failed" next to them and rebooting, and also reinstalled SageTV.

Here's a list of failed general plugins:

OneTimeFavoriteGeneral
AgeAlert
Sage Artifact Delete (SAD)
Sage Recording Extender (SRE)

Failed Library Files:

Gemstone z Theme Files
Groovy
nielm_sageimdb

I have a lifetime license for SageAlert etc.. but had to reinstall once and there was some rigmarole about reinstalling the license or something, but I don't recall specifics.

Any idea what's wrong or how to fix/repair? As I said I've already run the SageTV installation in repair mode and rebooted.

Not sure what was wrong. I noticed that I was getting a failed update on some of Slugger's Plugins so I uninstalled all of those as well as the Jetty Server and after I'd done that the TV listings came back. I'm going to add SageAlert back in and see if it updates OK.

Getting disgusted. Can someone help?

The installation of SageAlert failed and I can't get the Jetty server to work. When I go to the :8080/apps page I get a "page not found" and when I query the Windows troubleshooter I get "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection". I've tried several times to configure the router using UPnP are doing it manually assigning an internal and external port but I can't ever connect to the Placeshifter Connection to work. The thing is it was working earlier today but after I first tried to reset all of the plugins that were missing files, and then uninstalled them and reinstalled them the Jetty Server "went away."

Update: Well now after uninstalling SageAlert and the Jetty Server I was able to configure the Placeshifter Internet Connection, so either SageAlert or the Jetty Server was interfering somehow.

I have a lifetime subscription to that whole package of plugins that involve SageAlert but there must be something wrong with the key file. There was some change after an email and I'm pretty sure I downloaded the new key file but I can't even remember where I copied it. At any rate the license checking plugin (I'm sort of fed up with trying to remember the names of all these things in the absence of any instructions) seemed to indicated that the license was OK, then it failed again.

So everything seems to work as long as I don't try to use any of Sluggers plugins or anything that requires the Jetty Server.

Have you tried backing up your wiz files, uninstalling and removing sage from your system and starting over.

Recently there have been issues with Sage's EPG servers. There is a thread in the EPG section.

This doesn't explain everything just the Channel lineup lost from EPG.

That will be my next step. Well, as soon as I figure out what the "wiz files" are...

I still haven't added back Slugger's files. I have to figure out what I need to do to license them, and why they're not updating correctly.

Looks like I have four Wiz files in the main SageTV directory: "Wiz.bak", "Wiz.bin", "Wiz.bin.corrupt0", and "Wiz.bin.SageTV V6.6.2.218" . Do I need to save all of those somewhere before I uninstall completely? I'm thinking that even though the channels work now, the Slugger files won't.

Wiz.bin is the only one that matters. The others are just backups of wiz.bin that Sage created at various times (you can leave them or delete them).

Wiz.bin is the main database file that Sage uses to store the information about every show you've watched, the guide data, all your favorites, etc.

Thanks. That's sorta good to know.
