Verizon sells CA, TX, FL to Frontier

Verizon is selling 3 states to Frontier - California, Texas and Florida. Could this mean changes in copy flags? This could render SageTV+cablecard unusable for FIOS customers in those states. I hope not.

Is anyone using SageTV+SageDCT/CC with Frontier?

I thought the sale was just for the land line division at Verizon. Didn't think Frontier offered cable - last I heard they did package deals with Dish or Direct TV.

Little fun history: Verizon was formed from the spin off of Frontier Mobile along with the combination of a couple Baby Bell mobile carriers (I think Atlantic and South).

Verizon sold the Indiana FIOS operations to Frontier several years ago. I still use frontier for their FIOS internet but have been OTA for awhile now so I can't really answer your specific question. Here is my experience when the sale went down:
-In general, Frontier didn't really know what to do with FIOS. They had had agreements with DirecTv or Dish (can't remember which) for awhile. And they didn't seem to want to maintain the FiosTV portion (speculation here )because they didn't have the bargaining power that Verizon did when negotiating contracts with the content providers. There was a big push to get people on FIOS TV to switch to a satellite provider for their tv service. And they started jacking up their rates on tv (granted I think they were still cheaper than comcast here). I really expected them to completely eliminate their tv business by now but it is still going strong.
-From a technology standpoint nothing changed with their TV equipment. They seemed content with using all of the same equipment. You no longer had access to the verizon apps for the DVR (granted a moot point with this forum, but this was pre-sage for me), and I think they stopped pushing out the fiber infrastructure. If you were in a neighborhood that had it good for you , but if they hadn't made it out your way, well, you were out of luck. I suspect this all means you will be ok from a point of you of how they mark the content on your tv signal.
-You will lose access to some of those nice streaming features. Any website that uses a carrier login to give you access to their streaming content may cause problems for you if they don't have a frontier login. there will be a time with you will still have access to the verizon one, but who knows how long that will last.
-All of this to say we were really hoping they would sell the FIOS portion back to Verizon a few years down the road. I guess that isn't happening. FIOS is still rock solid and never goes down and I mean never in my area. I have lost internet I think once since I've had it and that was because the line wasn't buried yet and the neighbor mowed over it. (that's a different story for a different day). They recently have dropped their internet prices after having steadily gone up over the years. And their customer service is getting better. Maybe they have worked out the kinks and this acquisition will be much better than the last one.
