Come to think of it, I think trying to find a small portable bluray player with screen is still nearly unheard of, but DVD players of the same type can be found with no trouble. I guess people who buy bluray disks are not supposed to travel with them.
That's why most disney BluRays come with a code for a digital download of the movie as well. Load that up on the tablets and good to go (from the muggles out there - those of us around here just rip and convert the movies from the discs).

That said, I don't mind that my current truck only has a DVD player. It's exclusively used by my kids, and we've in the past almost always purchased the BluRay/DVD combo sets, leaving a bluray for in the house, and a DVD for in the car - its not like you need HD on a 7" screen in a vehicle.

No, I'm laughing at the 22 inch 720p TV that can run on 12volts dc, and comes with a built-in DVD player. And is marketed for truck drivers, who live in their trucks.

Payphones are nonexistent, Bluetooth headsets for sale, iPhone and other smartphone accessories(sd cards, and assorted USB cable types of various lengths and or quality) for sale. Satellite TV dishes for trucks, GPS navigation devices including units that use WiFi to obtain traffic, weather, and fuel pricing in near real time. (Cheapo) Android OS tablets for sale. Dashboard cameras are for sale too.

I think about the only thing that might have been available 20 years ago is the satellite dish for trucks(and RVs).

Edit: Can't forget the SiriusXM.
