So I ran a search for SageTV.exe on the entire computer (both through the windows gui and my cygwin install) and it only turned up my live installation and a copy of the exe I downloaded before there was a windows installer...

Look at the properties of the SHORTCUT your using to launch sage.
The TARGET tab will show the location of the EXE that it is opening |

The running SageTV process is running from the default SageTV location which is what is defined for the service and the shortcut.

I'd backup the sage folder, and run an uninstall, and see what is left in the folder. sage.jar (as well as a lot of other things) should be gone - things like wiz.bin, sage.properties, and such should remain. Make sure sage.jar is gone (delete it if it is not, and reinstall sage. As long as you don't remove the .properties, .bin, and the various plugin files (which should not be removed by uninstall), it should install the proper versions of the file and be good to go. Also check - I wonder - if you have a sage.jar find in the JARs file (there should not be).

That's good point. Rather than searching for sagetv.exe, search your disk for sage.jar's. It could be pulling the wrong one of those and that's where the version info comes from.

Download problems
I've been trying all afternoon to download the latest Windows V9 from bintray without success. Tried it on two different PCs, both of which have been downloading other files successfully. Is there another source for WV9?

Not sure what's up. After your reply, I tried via my Verizon hotspot and it downloaded it in three minutes. A speed test on Crumcast showed high speed as well, but the bintray/my network link doesn't work.
So... thanks.

Survived the summer with just Netflix and HBO GO, but the wifey has been poking me to get Sage back up and running since the EPG shutdown. I completely missed the news of the EPG shutdown until I ran out of EPG on 7/14.
Wish me luck! I'm sure all the kinks are sorted by now!

Fred,
Didn't get an error message; it just quit. Didn't try disabling AV, but great idea. Since Verizon came through, I no longer have the problem, at least for now.

You don't have to have Java 8. What OS are you on?
I had 7, upgraded to 8. Then realized a very old Kodi Sage plugin requires v7, so I reverted. After some rebooting it works fine.

I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium, just upgraded to Java 8.144.
Getting the following error message on launch: Java Exception An exception occurred in Java: java.lan.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/vecmath/Matric4f

What was the order of your Java install/uninstall? Did you reboot?
I found that if you uninstalled the old version after installing the new, it would remove some similarly named components of the new install, leaving the install faulty. Try re-installing again?
