It could be the WiFi. Try moving it to another location.

Make sure it is the 4K one and not the first generation one. If it is the FireTV 4K one it is probably your Network as networkguy suggested ... you need AC wireless.

I think it may depend on what plugins you have installed. I had some issues initially but disabled plugins and disabled the animation options in order to improve the reliability and responsiveness of the app.

Okay, all good suggestions thanks. Have AC1900 wifi, and actually have two Firesticks: one regular, and one 4K. As far as plugins, I’ve got a few. Any idea which ones may be problematic?

I would speculate the problem is WiFi, not the plug-ins. I had some of the same problems after a router firmware update and I only have a few plug-ins - the comskip GUI being the main one.

Not only that, but you can download SageTV Client from the Google Play Store and run it on Shield. It seems to work fine and be fully functional (similar to an HD300).

Swagger - What Shield model are you using? Are you happy with it? I assume it's as efficient as an old HD300?

9.2.2 Install option questions

Updating from 9.2.1 to 9.2.2 and wondering what to select for ...
  • Install LAV Filters version 0.73.1
  • Enable SageTV Stream Demux
  • Always Swap for AC3 Filter.

Particularly with respect to Firestick 4K use.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing - but nobody seems to have an opinion. Any progress with this?

Any advice before installing an updated version of SageTV on Windows 7 32 bit? I've copied the whole mess to a separate drive, and even have a clone done. I've been having lots of playback troubles on my Sage server, so I'm starting with updating Sage, but if that fails, a rebuild may be necessary.
PS - the drives all checked out last time I checked.

For my Firestick 4K testing, I just replaced the Sage jar with the beta version and decided to hold off on 9.2.2. Didn't want to have to fall back if I checked one of these that broke something.

OK, thanks. Decided to roll the dice (having a clone didn't make it much of a gamble eh?) and so far things seems much better. Time to start running through the plugins / HD300's and MiniClient's connections now

LOL, spoke too soon. USB-UIRT seems to have disappeared from my list of available tuners. Any suggestions? It's working in Device Manager, but SageTV can't see it

lol. Just updated to 9.2.2 - yup, USB-UIRT officially not working. What exactly did you do to fix this? I'm a little muddy going through all the threads.

UPDATE: ran the installer again and then chose REPAIR. Seemed to return USB-UIRT to the selection of available tuning methods. Someone else did this very thing, so maybe that a clue to whoever compiled the 9.2.2 installer. Thanks.

Current way to do clean install with all settings migrated

What is the BEST method to get a clean install without having to reconfigure everything? Some of the latest installs have been problematic for me and I eventually got things to function but it's not stable and occasionally crashes mostly when we are not using it.

I’ve looked at alternatives but still love SageTV. I dont mess with it much. Every 12-18 months I’ll see if there are updates and install them. Some of my config was a real challenge to setup and its been years since I messed with USB-UIRT or curating Dish channel file setups. I have a couple Dish boxes that are on different IR codes. I recall also having to modify some of the default IR commands for everything to work properly. It was a lot of work and I’m worried I’ll struggle to get everything working again if I have to manually setup everything from scratch.

Additional details:
Been using sage since 1.4.10 (2003). I have 6 HD300s that my family uses for TV. This install has been upgraded through Win 7 MCE, Win 8, Win 10, and all the latest Win 10 incarnations. Most recently I was running 9.2.1 32 bit. I installed 9.2.2 64 bit (by mistake). Realized it after seeing 2 shortcuts on desktop. Read that it should be fine to have both installed but when I tried to us the older 9.2.1 32bit version USB-UIRT was not functioning. I tried installing 9.2.2 32 bit next to see if it would repair it. It didn’t. Same issue. USB-UIRT not sending commands to the dish tuners. So I rolled back using windows system restore point I created prior to starting. Things seem to be working again. But I still wanted to get updated to current version. So I ran the 32 bit install for 9.2.2 and had the same problem. USB-UIRT didn’t work. Everything else seemed fine. I rolled back again to 9.2.1 and this time USB-UIRT was still broken. I tried install 9.2.2 32 bit again. Still broken. Rolled back to 9.2.1 and it was working again... I was like WTF. When I look at the system version using an the HD300 extenders it says 9.2.2.903 even though it should be rolled back to 9.2.1. The issues is its not 100% stable and will crash some times in the middle of the night when no one is using it. I had a similar issue when I upgraded to 9.2.1.

My system is a little different from yours as I don’t use usb-uirts. I just wanted to say that all of the problems I have had lately with my system have been windows related. I use windows 10 and update to the latest updates as they are released. These releases often cause problems with sage. I recently had a problem that was caused by windows setting my C: drive to go to sleep after some period. This was causing a problem so I changed it to never sleep. Make sure your power settings in windows are all set to never sleep or shut down, and your hard drives are set the same. Another thing is that after updates some drivers no longer work and you have to uninstall them and reinstall them to get the device to work again. One more thing I use my sage server to share files but after some updates to windows the files can no longer be shared. All the windows setting for file sharing will look fine but they are not. You have to unshare and then reshare to fix this function. Some updates don’t stop anything from working others do. You just never know. I am on windows 10 64 bit and sage 64 bit, the latest version, if any of this helps.

Hi everyone,

With the purchase of a refurbished "new" very old PC running Win10 to be my new server, I'm finally embarking on a x64 install of Sage. I'm keeping my existing x86 install just for now, but hope to transfer over everything once I get the kinks out of the x64 install.

I seem to be running into trouble with the topic described in the above quote from the first post. I have a HDHR Dual for OTA ATSC as well as a HDHR Prime for cable card. I installed the HDHR software as well as the HDHR View program. Everything works using the Silicondust software.

I'm focused right now on getting SageTV to recognize the HDHR Dual first. I'm not having any luck with video showing on Sage, though the signal quality is high (using the plugin that analyzes antenna signal).

Looking at the above quote, the HDHR setup program has several BDA compatibility modes:
Default
Easy HDHR DVR
For the Record
JRiver Media Center
MediaPortal
NextPVR
WMC

But not BeyondTV or Other. Is this where these are supposed to be listed? I've tried selecting some of these modes but still can't get video to display out of Sage.

Is this why the video isn't being displayed?

I haven't tried installing Sage x86 yet.

Most likely, although there could be other reasons, too.
After changing HDHR's BDA compatibility mode, it may be necessary to restart SageTv (both the service and the app).

Doing so will cause HDHR Setup to allow you to select SageTv from the BDA compatibility mode dropdown.
