I am not currently using a USB UIRT but you can use the zones feature of the USB UIRT
and have the cable right in front of the DirecTV box with the IR reciever pointed outward so you can use a remote with it I know you will need to buy another cable to attach to the USB UIRT but it should be fairly cheap not 50 dollars like the USB UIRT and you can get a free version of girder http://translate.google.com/translat...8%26oe%3DUTF-8 it is legal maybe some one can give a link for the cable to attach to the USB UIRT |

FYI, as I expcted my serial port was bad or had unresoolvable conflicts, so I got a USB-Serial cable and used that instead to connect to the low speed data cable. Works great and much more reliable/faster than changing channels with the USB-UIRT.

Sorry for the long post.
Going nuts here. I have had Sage working almost perfectly for about 8 months a few hecups but nothing real bad. One day I notice Sage working real slow so I reboot the pc and restart Sage to a black screen. Tried a few more times to no aveal. So I reinstalled Sage. I would get in up a working for a day and then one of my pvr 250 decided not to record just a black picture no movie or sound. I would tinker with it and get it working again only to have the sound not work on one of the cards had picture but no sound. Decided to reinstal sage again. Now I have now sound on one card and cannot change channels on any on my 2 pvr250s they just change channels between the two cards if one is on channel 2 and one is on channel 4 I go between 2 and 4 one card has sound one doesnt. I have tried to reinstall sage. I dont think it is a driver issue since it has been working for months now and I did not change anything before this had happen. I have tried the above, about turning off the STB box while connecting to sage nothing happen. Wife is getting pretty annoyed here missing here soap opera.

you need to reset the STB not just turn it off
remove the power cord to the STB try removing the card in the back of the STB while it is on |
