I have not see this before but it looks like the IP address the MVP Client tries to use is invalid or it doesn't have access to it.

Are you using a firewall? If so, make sure SageTV.exe has access to all the ports listed in mvp.properties (base servers + MVP1). You might try disabling the firewall to narrow down the problem.

If this doesn't help, is this a default installation without changes to mvp.properties? If so, can you try to set the IP address the MVP Client should use explicitly in mvp.properties (MVPBaseServers.host= and MVPClientServers.host=)?

pbennington,

Do you have automatic DHCP on your network? I have two MVP units and I have nevered had to do anything with IP address.

Ok, still having some issues with certain recordings having the audio completely out of sync from the video (like 3-5 seconds off).

The last one to do this was from a show last night. I notice that 'something' happened during the recording, because the show is broken into TWO files. This has happened sometimes in the past, but they always played fine in Sage so I never worried about it. I guess that isn't the case with the Media MVP though.

When I play it directly on my server using Sage, or in Windows Media Player, it plays fine.

When I play it on EITHER or my MVPs using Sage, it is COMPLETELY out of sync. Immediately out of sync, and no amount of RWD/FFWD changes it.

I noticed that another previous file I had OOS problems with was also broken into multiple files... So there is something goinbg on there! I think there is something slightly messed up/weird about the MPEG file itself (presumably) that the Media MVP does not like.

Not sure what to do about this though...

Either the fix needs to come on the Media MVP side (newer dongle.bin maybe?), or if anyone knows of a tool to 'fix' MPEG files (like maybe header info is just screwed up??) I'm open to suggestions.

What quality settings are you using to record the shows? By any chance are they VBR settings? I'm having sync problems and I'm using VBR. It's just a guess but worth asking....

Okay I'm really stuck now, I have tried everything disabling my wirless network adding ip address to the properties file and the mvp still won't connect to sage, all i get is the errors I posted earlier, Im unsure how to troubleshoot this. I really don't want to be stuck with the hauppauge software. Could this be to do with running sage as a service and not the client version?

cheers

Yes, I am using DVD Standard Play, which is VBR.

I only have issues on times when the recording gets broken into multiple files (for whatever reason).

I'm going to switch to a CBR recording profile and see how that goes. Are there any CBR profiles that will still yield closed captioning for use in COMSKIP? I'll ask in the COMSKIP thread too...

May take a while to actually test the issue, as I have to wait until another recording gets broken into multiple files...

Just wanted to let you know that I have posted a beta version of the MVP Client V1.1 on streams.ch.

It's a minor update and has no (new) known bugs. I haven't been able to fully test this version yet, but since I will be on holiday for a few days, I wanted to get this version out to you anyway.

Please see the Changelog for more details.

Enjoy!

-Matt

Hi Thanks to matt I have know got sage tv to work on the mvp. I am running sage as a service and have the mvp software installed in my sagetv directory, im having trouble when rebooting the machine that for some reason it isn't the client version that gets started but normal sage, if i close this and run sagetv.exe then the client version runs, im not sure if this is related but since moving to running sage as a service it also takes an age to get up and running, would moving to proper client server (running a true sage tv client) make any difference, i'm not sure my setup can handle a server and client on the same machine?

I have no idea why the normal SageTV would run if the Service is installed and enabled. You should probably send a bug report to Frey about this.

As a workaround, forcing SageTV.exe into client mode by calling it with the -client command line argument might work (haven't tried myself).

For whatever it's worth, I have noticed this as well. I beleive that somehow, the service is not initialized/completed when the call for Sagetv.exe is ran. The solution is to diable the option Start on Windows and place a shortcut into the startup folder. This will allow SageTV.exe to start in client mode with the service installed.

The latest beta fixes the problem, but the aspect ratio change is still inactive.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think we are talking about two different issues though. The problem that I'm having is the right side of the screen getting cut off. After I posted my question, I did a cold boot (yanked the power cable on the MVP) and the problem went away.
