installing nvDVD 4 codec
Hi all,
I'm not able to tell whether or not I have installed the nvDVD codec. When I go to the Video tab in SageTV, I am given the choice of "NVidia Video decoder" and "Nvidia Video PostProcessor", but when I try to see the video codec in control panels->sound and audio devices->hardware, it doesn't show up. I don't know whether the nvidia stuff that shows up in Sage is the nvDVD decoders or just some stuff that came with my Mobo, which is the DFI Lanparty Ultra II B, MCP-T an all that jazz. Any enlightenment is greatly appreciated. |

If you have those two NVDVD options, you have 4.x installed. Select the NVidia Video decoder, make sure to use a non NVida audio decoder.
When it is running, you will see an icon in your system tray. Right click on it to configure. |

Play a video in Windows MediaPlayer. An nVidia icon should show up on the task bar near the clock if it is working. You can right click on that icon to check/change its settings

OK, I've selected the nVidia video decoder in Sage, but I see no icon in the system tray when using Windows Media Player. There is an nVidia NForce control panel icon, but that is for audio only (it is the Soundstorm control panel, which kicks ass). Also, I don't understand how changing a setting within Sage could possibly make any difference in how Windows Media Player works. Maybe I just misunderstood that part.
What is worse, now Sage won't play any video -- I get this error: "There was a MPEG-2 Video Error in playback. Details: Rendering of video stream failed ErrCode=0x88760028" This is true whether using Overlay or VMR9. When I switch back to the Intervideo decoder, the picture comes back. Now, the one other variable here is that I have ffdShow installed. Although I don't have any filters enabled in ffdShow, the OSD still shows up in Windows Media Player, so maybe ffdShow is running some interference here. Of course, I want ffdShow to run interference, because it can make the picture look so much better. Could that be causing my nvDVD decoder to not work? |
